Nursing Internship Maternity Suites HBO-V VIAA

Are you a Nursing student at VIAA University of Applied Sciences and looking for an educational internship? From January 2027, an internship position will again be available at our maternity suites within the MKC.

As an intern, you will be deployed in the maternity suites. Here, you both learn and work. You apply the theory from your studies in practice and discover what you can contribute to the care of mother and child. You are part of a team that provides care during a special, often life-changing phase. Babies are born every day, moments that you experience up close. But you will also encounter situations that are vulnerable or emotional. It is precisely then that you learn how valuable good, involved care is. You will be guided by experienced nurses and will learn not only the profession, but also a lot about yourself.

The Mother & Child Centre consists of:

• 10 maternity suites

• 8 beds for pregnant women

In the maternity suites, the mother can give birth and stay until she goes home. The rooms have a homey atmosphere, but can be quickly converted during childbirth into professional delivery rooms with all the necessary equipment. The partner can also stay overnight.

The care is aimed at keeping mother and child together as much as possible. In the quiet environment of the maternity suite, there is plenty of attention for bonding. Parents are actively involved and care arrangements are coordinated per shift.

• Nursing care in a special environment.

• Collaborating in a team and with parents.

• Performing practical assignments and conducting research.

There is a cooperation agreement with VIAA University of Applied Sciences. Your studies determine how many hours your internship lasts and when your lecture day is.

• An internship agreement for 6 months. The location is Harderwijk. 

• An internship allowance in accordance with the CAO.

• Via the St Jansdal academy, you can work (online) on your personal and professional development. There are also regular fun initiatives, including workshops, to keep you healthy and vital.
