The role

About SGS Maco
At SGS Maco, we help companies operating internationally to handle their customs matters smoothly and correctly. We do this with an enthusiastic team of customs declarants and smart software solutions. Together, we ensure that our customers do not get lost in the world of rules, permits, and declarations.

At SGS Maco, you step into a dynamic working environment where no two days are the same. You will work on current and impactful projects within the world of international trade and customs, and in doing so, you will receive plenty of room to take initiative and truly make a difference. You will join a team of dedicated colleagues who love to share their knowledge and with whom you will work together on smart solutions and improvements. Moreover, SGS Maco is an organization in full motion, with ambitious plans and an open outlook toward the future. Working with us means building innovation, continuing to develop yourself, and contributing to the success of our customers.

What you'll do

Are you a coaching leader with industry knowledge and ready to take a close-knit team to a higher level? At SGS Maco Customs, we are looking for a Brokerage Team Leader for our Spijkenisse location who will further expand the quality of customs services together with us.

What will you do?

In Spijkenisse, you will work in the midst of the dynamics of international logistics. With many sea and perishables shipments, short sea and deep sea, no day is the same. You will lead a team of approximately 8 declarants — a mix of experienced professionals and talents in development — known for being small, dedicated, and close-knit.

As Brokerage Team Leader, you are responsible for the daily operation, but also for the growth of your people and the safeguarding of our high-quality service. You work hands-on when necessary, maintain an overview of capacity, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure that processes are complied with according to customs legislation and AEO guidelines.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Leading a close-knit team of approx. 8 declarants and ensuring optimal staffing within our opening hours.
  • Planning and organizing the activities.
  • Monitoring the quality of declarations and compliance with internal procedures and customs rules.
  • Troubleshooting complex files and collaborating with the quality manager and business unit manager.
  • Monitoring progress and conducting coaching and development meetings.
  • Looking at how things can be done smarter and immediately acting on improvements in work processes and team meetings.
  • Managing and updating procedures in our digital QMS system and ensuring the correct safeguarding of AOIB processes.
  • Maintaining contacts with customs, customers, and internal stakeholders such as Sales — you are the operational point of contact for important customers.
  • Identifying commercial opportunities, bottlenecks, or improvements in customer processes.
