Requirements

What we're looking for

You are an enterprising and enthusiastic team player with an eye for quality and detail. You switch gears quickly, enjoy varied work, and feel responsible for the end result. You do not find it a problem to occasionally work in the evenings or on weekends to test and commission signaling installations. You are communicatively skilled and possess strong leadership qualities.

  • technical education at HBO or WO level;

  • five to ten years of experience in train signaling, VKTT certifications are a plus;

  • in-depth knowledge of train signaling systems and the design process.

The role

You ensure that thousands of Dutch people - now and in the future - travel safely from A to B by train.

What you'll do

  • You lead the design and implementation of modern train signaling systems.

  • You provide a strategic contribution to the transition from conventional to digital technologies such as ERTMS.

  • You guide colleagues and advise clients on technical solutions and innovations.

As a lead engineer railway signaling, you work on complex and socially relevant projects such as PHS Amsterdam, the conversion of unprotected level crossings, and the implementation of ERTMS. You perform verification and validation activities, draft test specifications, and supervise execution. Additionally, you coach colleagues and serve as the point of contact within the team.

At our company, you get the freedom to work where it suits you best. Whether you work from home, choose a flexible desk in a coworking space, or work at one of our offices in the Netherlands, we support your preferences and provide the necessary facilities to perform your work optimally.

About the company & team

This is what the Signaling Installations department does:

The Netherlands has the busiest railway network in Europe. Everyone wants to be able to travel quickly, but also safely, by train, tram, and metro. The train signaling systems designed at your new Train Signaling Installations department make that possible. These are designed and built based on specific Dutch relay and PLC technology and based on European computer-controlled technology, ERTMS. But you are not only involved in realization and design, but also in the planning phase. Together with your new colleagues, you support clients throughout the entire lifecycle of train signaling systems: from exploratory studies to the design, realization, and maintenance for the signaling of train, tram, and metro traffic.

You can also expect this here:

In your new department, you will work together with 60 technical colleagues - men and women - in three different clusters. Involved, reserved, and down-to-earth are words that describe the majority of your new colleagues well. Furthermore, learning from and with each other is central. For example, there is a technical meeting every month where topics brought in by the group itself are discussed. Additionally, you will receive a training plan so that you can acquire new knowledge at a rapid pace, and you will be guided by an experienced colleague - your personal mentor. This allows you to perform your work optimally and ensures you can be 100% convinced that what you develop or release on the tracks actually functions correctly.

Additional information

At Movares, you work on beautiful projects with social impact. That provides energy and satisfaction, something that cannot be expressed in money.

You contribute to the difference we make together for the public space in the Netherlands by continuing to grow in your craft and as a professional. Therefore, in every phase of your career, you are given the space to actively shape your development, supported by learning on the job, masterclasses, and a broad learning environment in our own Academy.

That is not all. We also offer good primary and secondary employment conditions. We have listed them for you below:

  • a salary between €4,000 and €6,500 based on a full-time employment of 40 hours;

  • the intention to work together sustainably, with a perspective on permanent employment;

  • an attractive package of secondary employment conditions, including tax-advantaged schemes;

  • sustainable travel for your work with a good mobility scheme;

  • good facilities to be able to do your work at home or at the office;

  • a modern pension scheme with attention to your future;

  • attention to your personal situation, with customized workplace or guidance if necessary.

And there is more. Because working at Movares also means:

  • trust and flexibility in how and where you work, fitting your team and duties;

  • work that matters: you contribute to a more sustainable and cleaner living environment, together with colleagues who find this important;

  • attention to connection and fun during activities with colleagues, both professionally and informally.
