Interventional Staff Member in Training

As an Interventional Staff Member at the Cardiovascular Intervention Center (CIC), you are at the heart of acute cardiology. Here, you work closely with the cardiologist or physician assistant during, among other things:

• Coronary angiographies (CAGs)

• Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs)

• Pacemaker and ICD implantations

You work with advanced equipment and guide the patient during the procedures. You monitor vital signs and contribute to safe, efficient, and personalized care. Additionally, you are involved in administrative processing, quality improvement, and innovations. In the future, you may also become part of the TAVI or MITRA team and work in the hybrid operating room.

As an interventional staff member in training, you combine learning and working. You will follow the theoretical part of the training via the Wenckebach Institute in Groningen. Here, you will start with the Basic Acute Care (BAZ) training, followed by the EPAs (Entrustable Professional Activities) relevant to interventional cardiology.

During classroom sessions, topics such as acute care, clinical reasoning, and activities within interventional cardiology centers are central. You will develop practical skills in our department, where you will receive intensive guidance from two experienced clinical supervisors. They will support you throughout the entire training process in your professional development.

The full training lasts 15 months. Do you already have a completed BAZ training? Then you can enter a shortened 9-month track.

The Cardiovascular Intervention Center (CIC) is part of the Thorax Centrum Twente, which belongs to the top 5 thorax centers in the Netherlands.

Within the CIC, a dedicated and professional team works, including interventional staff members, holding nurses, pacemaker technicians, and electrophysiologists.
The CIC has 5 treatment rooms where diagnostic and invasive cardiological treatments take place. Additionally, there is a holding area for patient reception and aftercare. Here, you will work together in a multidisciplinary team of approximately 60 colleagues: from interventional staff members and pacemaker technicians to holding nurses and electrophysiology technicians. Together, we provide high-quality care to patients with often complex heart conditions. The team is well-coordinated. Collegiality, flexibility, and continuous development are central to our way of working, so that we work together on continuous improvement and innovation in care for heart patients.

• You hold a diploma in Nursing (MBO or HBO), Medical Assistance, or Heart Function Technician (specializing in interventional cardiology)

• You have (preferably) experience in cardiology and are willing to undergo additional training

• You can handle acute situations and react quickly

• You are collegial, eager to learn, and enjoy variety

• For this position, you will participate in on-call shifts. Therefore, we expect that you can be present in the hospital within 30 minutes. Do you live further away? No problem, you can make use of our picket rooms.
