  • Knowledge of an electronic patient record;

  • Flexibility regarding workdays, times, and locations, whereby Friday is a fixed workday;

  • You are stress-resistant, even when unexpected urgent requests come in. You know how to set priorities well and switch gears quickly when the situation demands it;

  • You possess good social and communication skills, have a service- and customer-oriented attitude, and can work both independently and in a team.

The role

Are you a dedicated medical assistant who loves making a difference for patients and enjoy working in a varied environment where patient care, collaboration, and personal growth are central? As an ENT medical assistant at MST, you will get plenty of room to apply your knowledge and skills and to further develop yourself. Are you ready for a new challenge in which you can truly be meaningful? Then we would love to meet you!

What you'll do

As a medical assistant in ENT surgery, you will work closely with the ENT specialist and provide support during consultations. Additionally, you will assist with various procedures and will be given the opportunity, in collaboration with the ENT specialist, to handle care inquiries independently. Furthermore, you will assist with outpatient treatments, guide children in the outpatient operating room, and perform hearing and allergy tests, among other tasks. In short, a varied job within an enthusiastic team, where there is room for your own initiatives and new ideas.

This is what you will do

The tasks that belong to your package include:

  • Guiding and supporting the consultation hours;

  • Assisting with treatments and procedures;

  • Independently handling care inquiries, in collaboration with the ENT specialist;

  • Guiding and reassuring children and their parents in the outpatient operating room;

  • Performing hearing and allergy tests;

  • Receiving patients at the desk;

  • Recording findings, diagnoses, and performed actions in the patient file (DBC registration);

  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail and email and handling incoming telephone calls.

This is where you will work

At the ENT surgery outpatient clinic, we go beyond general ENT care. For example, we have an active role in the MST Sleep Center and work closely in the Head-Neck oncology center. Together, we strive for high-quality care for patients with complex conditions and contribute to scientific research. Within ENT surgery, there is plenty of room for your development.
The ENT surgery outpatient clinic is a varied clinic where 8 ENT specialists and 22 medical assistants work enthusiastically and in a patient-friendly manner. The work takes place in Enschede and Oldenzaal.

What does your workday look like as a medical assistant?

07:30 - Assisting in the outpatient OR.
On Monday and Wednesday mornings, grommets are placed and tonsils are removed in the outpatient operating room; you receive children with their parents, conduct an intake, and assist in the recovery room.

08:00 - Start of the day, start of the consultation hours.
You prepare the consultation hours and ensure everything is ready for the first patients.
You support the ENT specialist in the room during consultations, assist with procedures, and handle the consultation independently where possible.

08:00 - 1 colleague starts the day at the desk and 2 colleagues on the phone.
You receive patients, answer incoming calls, and ensure questions end up in the right place. In case of emergencies, you act quickly and coordinate with the ENT specialist.

12:00 - Joint lunch break.

13:00 - Start of afternoon consultation hours.
You have your own consultation hours this afternoon and independently perform hearing and allergy tests.

16:00 - Administration and wrap-up.
You process patient data, handle reporting, and deal with outstanding questions.

16:30 - End of workday.
You wrap up the day, and tomorrow you will have a different task and another new, varied day!
