The role

The Central Sterilization Department (CSA) plays a crucial role in the hospital. At the CSA, we take care of the cleaning, disinfection, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of all reusable medical devices. These medical devices are used during procedures in the operating department, in the outpatient clinics, and in other locations within MST where sterile medical devices are used. All of this takes place in accordance with Dutch legislation and guidelines, and European standards regarding sterilization and sterility. All of this is to support the delivery of high-quality care in MST.

In 2021, our department was completely rebuilt, making us the most innovative CSA department in Europe, and we are incredibly proud of that!

What you'll do

As an apprentice for sterile medical devices, you hold your own in a technical and complex environment and are resistant to stressful situations. Delivering high quality is of great importance to you. You are responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, inspection, and sterilization of instruments used during a procedure. Responsibility and care are therefore highly valued in our department. All actions must proceed according to strict rules. The right knowledge and skills are truly a must for this.

We are looking for a candidate who is able to stand for long periods and lift regularly.

For our enthusiastic team, we are looking for a flexible colleague who wants to be trained within one year to become a central sterilization employee in the CSA department. The training starts on November 22, 2026, at Deltion College in Zwolle. During this training, you will have 1 day of classes per week and learn how to work carefully and responsibly, so that the quality of sterilization remains guaranteed. In addition, you will work the other 3 days within the CSA department.

What you bring

You are able to respond adequately to changing circumstances, are proactive, honest, eager to learn, and can act decisively. Additionally, you are a team player who naturally seeks collaboration, shares knowledge, and is open to feedback. You feel at home in an environment where we deal with complex and technical instrumentation used for various surgeries.

  • You possess at least a VMBO/Havo diploma.

  • You are available on short notice so that you can be onboarded before the training starts.

  • You can collaborate well and are collegial.

  • You are meticulous, accurate, and can work hygienically.

  • You are willing to work various shifts, including on-call shifts.

This is what we offer

  • The opportunity to learn and work in an indispensable department within MST in an exciting work environment.

  • A training/employment contract for the duration of the training (1 year) with the possible prospect of permanent employment.

  • Depending on your training and experience, you will be scaled in the apprentice scale of the hospital collective labor agreement (cao) or in FWG 30 (minimum € 2,630.- to maximum € 3,548.- gross per month based on 36 hours per week).

  • After graduation, the position is classified in FWG 35 (minimum € 2,630,-  with a growth opportunity up to a maximum of € 3,724,- gross per month based on 36 hours per week).
