The role
What will you do?
The nurse specialist (NS) hematology-oncology for the Multiple Myeloma (MM) care pathway is the linchpin in the treatment process of hematology-oncology patients. Treatment for MM has become increasingly complex due to the arrival of many new medicines and new treatment techniques. The NS enters into an independent treatment relationship with the patient and their loved ones within their own area of expertise to act according to existing guidelines. This is an integral process: involving both support in execution but also, if necessary, initiating diagnostics, drafting the treatment plan with the corresponding interventions, and evaluating and concluding a treatment process.
The NS can guide a patient in the home situation, at the outpatient clinic, and during hospitalizations. This is of great importance to facilitate continuity of care and to increase quality. Currently, 1 NS hematology-oncology is active in the MM care line. Together, you will ensure the continuity of care.
Your tasks consist of
Performing professional medical and nursing care;
Providing treatment and care coordination for patients;
Providing information and education;
Developing and implementing multidisciplinary treatment and care protocols;
Providing education.
