The role

What will you do?

Do you want to determine, together with those responsible in healthcare, which improvements in the electronic patient record (Epic) should be tackled first? Do you get energy from leading and coaching a team of people, and do you see it as a challenge to ensure that the agreed results are achieved together with your team? Then apply for this position!

For the ICT Governance department within the Medical Instrumentation and Information Technology (MIT) service division, we are looking for a team leader for one of the Epic clusters.

ICT Governance is responsible for the management and further development of the applications on which the care, research, and education of Maastricht UMC+ run. These are Epic, the hospital's electronic patient record (EPR), and the business operations applications. ICT Governance exists to keep those applications available and to improve them together with healthcare. This vacancy concerns a team leader for one of the Epic clusters.

Your cluster consists of multiple application teams. Each team is responsible for one or more components of Epic.

Concretely, this means you:

  • you are responsible for the quality and results of the team;

  • you formulate the vision for the services of your cluster, derived from the needs of the Healthcare organization, the strategy of MIT, and the developments announced by the Epic vendor;

  • together with the other team leaders, you ensure insight and control over the workload: Together with the other team leaders, you establish a fixed working method to monitor and adjust the workload;

  • you ensure that the deployment of the teams follows the established priorities.

Additionally:

  • you are responsible for the people management of your team;

  • you coach the team, provide feedback, lead your work meetings, and stimulate collaboration;

  • you conduct the annual conversation cycle and appraisals, and you are responsible for absenteeism management and recruitment;

  • you safeguard the knowledge within your team;

  • you provide management reports and monitor the budget (personnel and supplier contracts).

What does your work environment look like?

You work within the ICT Governance department of the MIT Service Division and report to the ICT Governance unit manager.

You work closely with your fellow team leaders, information managers, the owners of work processes, and the medical and nursing officers (CxIOs). The latter two form the bridge to doctors and nurses.

With approximately 330 colleagues from the MIT service division, we work every day with all our hearts to keep a virtually fully digital UMC with state-of-the-art medical technology up and running. We are involved in innovative projects in the field of healthcare technology and ensure their implementation. In doing so, we contribute our part to the continuous improvement of care.

Maastricht UMC+ offers a challenging and innovative working environment in which top-tier care goes hand in hand with warmth and attention to the individual, and in which personal and professional growth and development are a matter of course.

What do we ask of you?

  • A completed degree at HBO or WO level;

  • At least 5 years of experience as a manager with formal personnel responsibility;

  • Experience in a role in which you determine which work takes precedence together with stakeholders;

  • Extensive work experience within an ICT organization, preferably in healthcare;

  • Knowledge of ITIL, the standard for the management of ICT services (including incidents and changes). If you do not have this yet, you will acquire it within 6 months.

You possess the following competencies

  • Collaboration: you contribute to the collective result, in your team and with other teams;

  • Person-oriented leadership: you direct employees on their tasks and their development, and you adapt your style to the person;

  • Connecting leadership: you provide direction to the team and establish collaboration;

  • Entrepreneurship: you identify opportunities for improvement in the service and weigh the financial consequences. You take initiative and dare to take steps;

  • Flexibility: you continue to work efficiently with new working methods, tasks, and responsibilities.

  • Analytical ability: you solve problems with insight into processes.

Do you meet these job requirements? Then we will go for you!
