The role

What will you do?

Are you an enthusiastic, eager-to-learn, and excellent team player who wants to experience the best of both worlds?

We are looking for a junior orthopaedic surgeon to provide complex paediatric orthopaedic care for children from the Southeast Netherlands region, specializing in foot and ankle surgery.

All components within the paediatric orthopaedics specialization will be addressed, including both conservative and operative care. Paediatric orthopaedics works closely with scoliosis care orthopaedics and with other paediatric specialties in the Mosa Kids Hospital of the MUMC+, primarily paediatrics (e.g., infectious diseases, metabolic diseases), paediatric neurology, and paediatric neurosurgery (neural tube defects, cerebral palsy, Rett syndrome). Within the field of responsibility, there is extra attention for paediatric traumatology in close cooperation with the members of the traumatology team.

As a junior staff member, you will participate in care for general paediatric orthopaedics and be involved in specialized care, both mono- and multidisciplinary, which is shaped by the various care pathways in the MUMC+.

Additionally, you have an affinity for foot/ankle surgery and will work in a close-knit and passionate team within the Annadal Clinic (ZBC), part of the MUMC+ group, where we realize an innovative care concept with the Beweeghuis. Here, high-quality, person-centered care is central, combined with sincere attention for the patient.

In this position, you combine outpatient and operative care in the Annadal Clinic with the academic opportunities of the MUMC+. A unique opportunity to develop not only clinically, but also in the fields of science and/or education/training. You will also participate in the on-call rotation of the medical orthopaedics department.

Affinity with education is an advantage.

What does your work environment look like?

You will be working at the MUMC+, in the beautiful city of Maastricht. The MUMC+ offers you a challenging and innovative working environment in which top-tier care goes hand in hand with warmth and attention for the individual, and in which personal growth and professional growth and development are a matter of course.

Additionally, you will be working at the Annadal clinic, just a stone's throw away from the MUMC+.

The medical Orthopaedics department is part of the Centrum van Bewegen. Within the medical Orthopaedics department, the key priorities of top-quality patient care, research, and education are given substance by a team of specialists, researchers, residents, and physician assistants.

What do we ask of you?

  • You are an enthusiastic orthopaedist

  • You strive for the very best person-centered care for patients.

  • Eager to learn, independent, and critical, with a proactive and patient-oriented attitude.

  • Caring, involved, and strong in communication.

To start successfully in this role, it is important that you have a good command of the Dutch language (minimum B2 level) due to contact with, among others, patients and colleagues. Additionally, it is a requirement that you are permitted to work in the Netherlands (EU/EEA nationality or a valid work permit).

We are curious about your story and talents!
