The role

KPMG Netherlands helps organizations move forward with issues in the fields of audit, risk, strategy, and (digital) transformation. Every day, we work on high-quality service as well as a healthy, sustainable, and safe working environment for our own people.

Within KPMG, the primary responsibility for absence management lies with managers, but the Health department is the process owner of the entire absence management process. Health manages strictly on quality, compliance, and results, prevents wage sanctions, and ensures that colleagues can reintegrate sustainably and responsibly. In this role, you work at the intersection of advice and execution and, together with your colleagues, contribute to a professional and future-proof absence policy.

As an absence management specialist, you take ownership of the entire absence management process. You monitor progress, quality, and compliance with the Gatekeeper Improvement Act and ensure that all steps are completed in a timely and demonstrable manner. You break through stagnation in files, implement appropriate interventions, and keep all stakeholders focused on sustainable recovery. In doing so, you translate laws, regulations, and internal policies into clear agreements and workable procedures.

You also advise managers and HR colleagues on complex cases and, where necessary, implement trajectories in the first and second track. You are a strong interlocutor for stakeholders such as managers, Management Teams, and occupational physicians, and you ensure that communication proceeds carefully, professionally, and respectfully. You combine humanity with process discipline: you address issues when necessary, but also maintain an eye for the context and the story behind the file.

You manage data-driven by analyzing absence figures, identifying trends and risks, and translating these insights into concrete actions and advice for management. Additionally, you handle the operational side of the process carefully; from mailbox management and correct system registration to constructing the reintegration report, WIA documentation, and keeping templates and FAQs up to date. Together with your colleagues, you maintain the information on the HR Portal and contribute to optimizing our provider range by actively following market developments, changes in legislation, and potential partners. You also organize initiatives such as tenders, workshops, training sessions, and networking events.

About the team
You will join the HR Health team, which consists of a Senior and two Specialists. The team is part of the HR Business Advice team, allowing you to collaborate easily with the HRBAs. Additionally, there is the Strategic People & Culture team, in which the HR Business Partners are positioned. Together, these teams provide high-quality, consistent, and future-oriented HR support within KPMG.

What you'll do

  • You take control of the entire absence management process and ensure progress, quality, and compliance in accordance with the Gatekeeper Improvement Act (Wet verbetering Poortwachter).
  • You break through stagnation in files, initiate interventions, and drive towards recovery and sustainable employability.
  • You translate laws, regulations, and policies into clear, workable procedures.
  • You advise managers and HR on complex cases and implement appropriate 1st- and 2nd-track trajectories.
  • You are a strong interlocutor for, among others, managers, Management Teams, and occupational physicians, and you safeguard professional communication.
  • You manage data-driven: you analyze absence figures, identify trends, and translate insights into actions and policy advice.
  • You handle the operational process side: mailbox, file construction, WIA documentation, registrations, templates, and FAQs.
  • You maintain the provider range, keep the HR Portal up to date, and organize initiatives such as tenders, workshops, and networking events.
