Pay & benefits

What you'll get

For us, good compensation goes beyond just salary. Naturally, that includes a good package of employment conditions, but we find it just as important that you enjoy going to work, receive freedom in what you do, and have a good balance between work and private life.

  • A salary between € 2,900 and € 4,000 gross per month (full-time), depending on your experience and level of knowledge;
  • A full-time job of 40 hours per week within a historic family business;
  • 40 days off per year (27 vacation days and 13 ATV);
  • Net travel allowance of € 0.25 per kilometer;
  • Many opportunities to further develop yourself with training and courses;
  • Varied work with a lot of freedom and responsibility;
  • A committed team with colleagues who help each other and put their shoulders to the wheel together;

You work on technical custom work where your craftsmanship is visibly reflected. Every yacht is different, and your contribution truly makes the difference. That brings responsibility, but above all, pride in what you build together.

The role

At De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum, the jewel of the Frisian economy, we build exceptional Feadships: world-class yachts, fully customized to the client's wishes and finished to perfection. From our modern shipyard on the IJsselmeer, we proudly work on projects up to 120 meters. Every detail counts, and everyone's craftsmanship contributes to the final result. Together, we realize yachts that garner admiration worldwide. That is your contribution to the construction of a Feadship.

What you'll do

As a Small Piping Fitter, you will work on the systems that run throughout the entire yacht. Think of hydraulics, working air, and Hi-Fog. You will work on board the yacht, and the spaces where you will be found most often are the engine room and technical spaces. Everything you install must be technically correct and neatly finished. Even spaces that guests never see are finished in exquisite detail at Feadship.

You will work together with colleagues on the yacht from the moment the hull arrives until the launch. Together, you ensure that the complete piping system on the yacht is correct. You will divide your time approximately 50 percent in the workshop and 50 percent on board:

  • In the workshop, you bend pipes;
  • On board, you take your own measurements and install the piping in the correct location.

At De Vries, pipes are not supplied as pre-fabricated components, but you handle the entire process yourself: measuring, bending, adjusting, and installing. You do not work from fully detailed drawings, but from schematics. You determine the pipe route yourself and establish where bends, connections, and brackets must be placed. This requires technical insight, and having an overview and taking initiative is valued here.

  • Independently measuring and installing small piping (6 to 42 mm);
  • Bending and installing pipes;
  • TIG welding of pipes and brackets in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum;
  • Working on hydraulic systems and other technical installations;
  • Thinking along regarding practical solutions when practice deviates from the drawing;
  • Monitoring quality, safety, and finishing.
  • A practical attitude and a sense of responsibility;
  • A completed technical MBO education (level 2, 3, or 4) or equivalent;
  • Experience with measuring, bending, and installing pipes, or a willingness to learn this;
  • Technical insight and experience reading drawings and schematics;
  • Experience with TIG welding is handy, but not a requirement;
