How do we develop software?

Each team works on its own part of the software. These can be customer-oriented parts, but also our warehouse system or our own HR system. You develop, optimize, and implement new features. All systems we work on are developed by us, so that we can respond well to complex and challenging changes in the market. We also use the systems ourselves, but we build them as independently functioning software that is also interesting for other companies. So, while we are indeed also a webshop, we see ourselves as a software company. Our scope is therefore much broader than you might think.

Our stack

... and do not forget Gitlab, Docker, Typescript and Redis. We use various tools including Jetbrains, Slack, Ubuntu/Windows and vscode. This is always in motion, because the technological world never stands still.

What are you going to do as a Back-end Developer?

  • You will become a full member of one of our development teams

  • You help translate our business objectives into well-functioning software.

  • You help us build leading telecom software.

  • You will receive responsibility over your portion of the code.

  • You will get the chance to learn truly a lot and also to do more than small tasks.

How do we work?

  • In development, we have a mix of approximately 70 full-timers and part-timers, experienced and newly graduated colleagues.

  • We apply the MVP mindset (Minimum Viable Product) to reach added value for users as quickly as possible.

  • We have fun together! There are both company-wide and development-specific drinks and activities for those who want. Do you not want to? That is also fine!

  • We are ambitious and fanatic. We love to improve, because we find that fun.

  • We have a flat organization in which what you say counts, not who says it.

  • We have no fixed job profiles. A great advantage of this is that we can provide customization in your job and your development.

  • The development department works in English, but the majority of colleagues also speak Dutch.

What can you expect from us?

  • Experienced full-time colleagues to guide you.

  • Exams? Then it is always negotiable to work a little less.

  • You will get the chance to grow. Many working students continue to work with us after their studies.

  • Short release times. We release our code multiple times per day. Done = live.

  • No hierarchy. We don't like that.

  • You are the technical expert. So no non-technical colleagues sitting in your technical chair. Stick to your own craft.

  • We replace legacy code proactively. Every software naturally has legacy, but you don't have to keep legacy code upright forever.

  • Informal working atmosphere. Everyone can be themselves with us.

Who are you?

  • You are following a technical education at Hanze or RUG (HBO ICT or Computing Science). If you are studying Computing Science, you are currently in the second year of your master's.

  • You are smart, positive, and critical and cannot wait to work on projects that have an effect on hundreds of thousands of customers and hundreds of colleagues.

  • You are available 16h per week (or more) on weekdays between 8:00 - 17:30.

In this place, you will find even more vacancies for the working student position at Gomibo.
