At Gomibo, we build a lot ourselves - especially where customization truly makes the difference. We use open-source libraries where it makes sense, and develop our own solutions when standard tools fall short. This is how we build the webshops and tools that are active in more than 30 European countries. As a Junior Frontend Engineer (Software Engineer I), you will contribute to production code from day one, help build cool features, and learn to work with the same tools and workflows as the rest of the team.

You will become part of a multidisciplinary team with frontend and backend engineers, product designers, and product managers.

Examples of things you can do:

● Building UI components in React

● Learning to work with GitLab, Vite, React Router v7, and Docker (we assume basic knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and Git)

● Fixing layout bugs

● Reviewing code from other engineers and pair programming

● Bringing product designs to life and helping with fine-tuning our UX

● Investigating why a dropdown only breaks in Firefox on one specific version of macOS

Stuck on something? No problem - there is always someone to help you, and we support you in developing confidence in your code and your choices. You will be assigned a buddy who will help you make a flying start during your first period.

*You are able to work at the office in Groningen during your entire onboarding period. After that, we have a remote working policy of a maximum of 2 days per week. More days are possible in consultation.

● Frontend: React, React Router v7 (Remix v2), TypeScript, Vite, CSS, Jest, Storybook, Chromatic

● Platform: GitLab for version control, code reviews, and CI

● Infra: Docker, Sentry, Kubernetes, Prometheus

● Methodology: Agile workflow, daily stand-ups, pair programming, and a culture of giving and receiving constructive feedback

We place great value on clean, maintainable code and a pleasant learning environment. We work in small teams - usually 5 engineers, one product manager, and one designer. Code reviews are standard. We recognize that legacy code exists - and we try to improve it as much as possible, step by step.

You might not have much work experience yet - that is completely okay. We are looking for someone who is motivated, curious, and eager to learn.

What you bring:

● You have a completed bachelor's or master's degree in Computing Science, at HBO or WO level.

● You understand the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;

● Preferably, you have worked with React (or Vue, but we do not use that);

● You get energy from solving problems and enjoy discovering how things work;

● You enjoy collaborating, asking questions, and dare to ask for help;

● You speak English well.
