Water Advisor for Infrastructure

• A completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in Water Management, Civil Engineering, or a similar field;

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in water management and infrastructure;

• A team player and all-rounder;

• Knowledge of the applicable guidelines and regulations within water management;

• Experience with design tools such as Sobek and InfoWorks ICM is a plus;

• Strong communication skills and a solution-oriented attitude.

As a Water Advisor for Infrastructure, you will work on the design and integration of surface water systems, rainwater drainage, and groundwater management within our infrastructure projects. You will work closely with advisors and design leaders from various disciplines, such as road designers, structural engineers, geotechnicians, and landscape architects. You will take into account the interfaces between different fields of expertise and know how to manage risks. You will ensure the requirements and wishes of clients and stakeholders are met and will guide junior advisors and modelers to safeguard the quality of the design.

A few concrete examples:

Activities: Design of surface water systems, rainwater drainage, groundwater management, and dewatering advice.

Currently, we are working hard on the A27, where our water team is part of the Civil Engineering (GWW) team. We are in the middle of the detailed design (DO) phase. One of the challenges is integrating the surface water system within the project boundaries, which must function optimally from a hydraulic perspective. Due to short lines of communication with the water boards, we can quickly reach joint decisions.

Activities: Design of surface water systems, rainwater drainage, groundwater management, and dewatering advice.

The final design has been completed, and we are now working on the detailed execution steps for realization (such as the construction of railway viaducts). For the functioning of the surrounding water system, temporary watercourses, culverts, and rainwater drainage are essential to prevent ponding on the national highway.
