Cables and Pipelines Advisor

• Minimum HBO level.

• Minimum 3 years of experience as an engineer or advisor in the field of cables and pipelines at a contractor, consultancy, or engineering firm.

• Basic knowledge of Autocad and Autodesk Civil 3D.

• A driver's license.

• A gross monthly salary of € 4,000.00 to € 5,500.00 for a full-time employment (40 hours).

What is beautiful about your work as a cables and pipelines advisor at Boskalis Nederland in Papendrecht? Within infra projects, you are the central link between the grid operator, the design team, the client, and the execution. You weigh the various interests and, based on that, advise on issues surrounding cables and pipelines. In doing so, you work on multiple projects simultaneously, throughout the Netherlands and sometimes also in Belgium.

From reinforcing dikes to widening highways: with every infra project, we deal with cables and pipelines in the ground. You take charge of this component in our projects: you advise on installation, relocation, and removal, and coordinate this with colleagues within Boskalis Nederland and grid operators. You gather the requirements and interests of all stakeholders, bring them together, and work towards a solution that fits within the project.

In doing so, you work on multiple projects at once, often in different phases. That is exactly what makes your work so varied! One time you are involved in a large-scale road construction project, such as the widening of the A2 over a stretch of no less than 18 kilometers. Another time you work on the reinforcement of a dike, such as IJsseldijk Zwolle-Olst. Also great: our process is uniquely and fully digitized! In this, Autocad, GIS, and Relatics are linked together. This allows you to maintain an efficient overview, from design to execution.

• During the tender phase, you analyze the requirements and, in coordination with stakeholders, map out the risks, opportunities, interfaces, and bottlenecks. Based on this, you advise the tender team on the tender budget regarding the cables and pipelines component.

• Once the assignment is received, you analyze the situation again and, based on the reference design or preliminary design, you guide the development of route designs and relocation proposals.

• You coordinate technical solutions with grid operators, subcontractors, and colleagues from the design and execution teams. You also review advisory documents and quotes.

• You provide input for the preparation, coordination, and planning of the relocation of cables and pipelines.

• During realization, you guide the relocations by external parties, supervise the execution, and support the client with, among other things, the financial settlement.

You represent the interests of Boskalis Nederland towards the grid operator and those of the grid operator within Boskalis Nederland. Due to your communication skills, you therefore switch easily between the various stakeholders and know how to connect them. When necessary, you are decisive and dare to make decisions. You clearly explain why you choose a certain approach and can convincingly bring the involved parties along with you.
