Expert Movable Structures

Help build the movable infrastructure of the Netherlands. These civil structures are essential for the accessibility, water safety, and livability of the Netherlands.

Are you an experienced specialist in movable structures? As an Expert Movable Structures, you will work on the renovation, replacement, maintenance, and new construction of bridges, locks, weirs, and pumping stations. With your expertise in mechanical engineering, steel structures, drives, and movement mechanisms, you will make an important contribution to a safe, reliable, and future-proof infrastructure. At Antea Group, you will work on challenging projects involving the renovation, replacement, maintenance, and new construction of movable bridges and locks. You are a technical authority within projects, advise clients, and actively contribute to the development of colleagues and the next generation of specialists.

As an expert, you are involved in projects from initiative to realization. You are the technical point of contact for clients and project teams and translate complex issues into practical and innovative solutions. Your responsibilities include:

• technical advice on movable bridges, locks, weirs, and pumping stations;

• assessing and optimizing movement mechanisms, steel structures, and mechanical installations;

• performing and testing complex VOBB calculations, technical risk analyses, and feasibility studies;

• guiding advisors and project engineers and strengthening knowledge development within the team.

You will be part of our national Structures advisory group, a multidisciplinary team of advisors, structural engineers, designers, project leaders, and technical experts. Together, you will work on challenging issues surrounding bridges, locks, pumping stations, viaducts, and other civil structures.

In this role, you will work intensively with project leaders, technical managers, structural engineers, and design leaders. Additionally, you will regularly coordinate with specialists in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as with asset managers and operators. You will also maintain close contact with clients and executing parties, including Rijkswaterstaat, provinces, municipalities, and contractors.

You have a completed HBO or WO degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 7 years of experience with movable structures. Additionally, you possess:

• broad knowledge of mechanical engineering, movement mechanisms, and steel structures;

• experience with renovation, replacement, and maintenance projects for bridges and locks;

• experience with technical advising within infrastructural projects;

• strong communication skills and the ambition to share your knowledge and further develop colleagues.
