Imagine this: you are driving over the Galecopperbrug in Utrecht. What do you see? The imposing steel, the stay cables supporting the bridge... or do you also recognize the complex engineering required to renovate such a structure? Many bridges in the Netherlands will reach the end of their service life in the foreseeable future and must be renovated or replaced. KWS has been a reliable and expert partner for many years in the field of replacement and renovation (V&R) of large steel bridges. Given market developments, we are expanding the existing V&R team with experienced professionals.

Your job
As design manager civil works V&R, you will be part of a team of experienced professionals. They not only possess extensive practical knowledge of renovating and replacing steel and concrete bridges, but also understand exactly what our customers need. Additionally, we have built strong collaborations with partners and suppliers in recent years. Our professionals are deployed in IPM roles in tenders and projects within the V&R scope and are responsible for centrally securing and sharing knowledge regarding the V&R scope. And all this in an environment where entrepreneurship, collaboration, and innovation are central.

You will become part of our experienced V&R team and will be responsible for, in collaboration with our partners and suppliers, developing and elaborating smart and constructible design solutions. With these solutions, you will make a direct contribution to ensuring accessibility, as well as increasing the quality and safety of steel and concrete bridges.

You will be deployed on tenders and projects with various contract forms such as construction teams, 2-phase contracts, and D&C contracts under the UAVgc. Because you collaborate with diverse disciplines such as steel, concrete, and specials like stay cables and joints, as well as with various partners, it is important that you are a true connector. You will manage the entire design phase, actively taking the initiative in the areas of standardization, innovation, and digitalization. You will ensure an optimal integral design in all project phases and monitor project goals regarding time, budget, and quality. Additionally, you will formulate the design and tender strategy, implement it, and oversee its compliance. You will continuously coordinate with design partners, stakeholders, clients, and core team members from various disciplines. In the realization phase, you will see your design actually come to life on the construction site, which makes the work tangible and impactful. You are not just a cog in a chain, but a full-fledged part of a team building something together that is future-proof.
