Lead Civil and Structural Engineer

•    Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering.

•    Fluency in Dutch (spoken and written) and excellent command of the English language are essential requirements.

•    Multiple years of knowledge and practical experience in planning, design coordination, and project management of civil and steel projects in chemical, refinery, and/or power plant construction across all engineering phases.

•    Knowledge of modern engineering tools and software.

•    Knowledge of relevant European/Dutch civil and structural steel codes and standards.

•    Experience at construction sites.

As Lead Civil and Structural Engineer, you will play a central role in defining and executing civil engineering solutions for customers in the process industry.

Core responsibilities

•    Representing and leading the civil engineering discipline within AFRY Netherlands.

•    Acting as the primary point of contact for all civil and structural engineering topics/projects (internal and external).

•    Responsible  for civil engineering and structural design in:

o    The process industry.

o    Concrete structures, steel structures, foundations, buildings, pipe racks, and machine supports.

•    Execution of all engineering phases:

o    Basis of Design.

o    Feasibility studies.

o    Concept, Basic, and Detail engineering.

o    Construction supervision.

o    Completion and handover of the construction site.

•    Cost estimation, input for planning, risk assessment, and contribution to project control.

•    Ensuring engineering results, timely delivery, and technical compliance.

•    Preparing and coordinating documentation required for building permits and approval procedures.

•    Supervising civil activities in EPCM projects, including managing subcontractors:

o    Tender and negotiation phases.

o    Drafting functional specifications and inquiry documents for tenders.

o    Supervising performance, safety, schedules, and cost compliance by contractors.

•    Providing on-site support, including inspections, supervision, and acceptance processes.

•    Participation in business travel and on-site assignments is viewed as a valuable opportunity and not as a burden.
