You are responsible for the growth of the Northern Netherlands

The Netherlands faces a major maintenance and renovation challenge. Bridges, viaducts, tunnels, and other civil engineering structures must be repaired, strengthened, and made future-proof. For Gebr. Van Kessel STEP, this means plenty of opportunities to grow further.

And we are going to seize those opportunities.

For STEP, the Northern Netherlands is an important growth region. To realize our ambitions, we are opening a new branch in the region between Almere and Apeldoorn. As STEP Project Leader, you will play a key role in this development. You will not only be responsible for projects, but also for expanding client relationships, creating new opportunities, and further developing the region.

This is not a position for someone who likes to wait. From day one, you will receive the responsibility to further develop the market, bind new clients to us, and make an important contribution to the growth of STEP in the Northern Netherlands.

As STEP Project Leader, you are responsible for maintenance and renovation projects on civil engineering structures in the Northern Netherlands. You lead projects from preparation through to completion and ensure that technology, execution, planning, quality, safety, and finances align seamlessly.

You are the point of contact for clients and know exactly what is happening within your projects. Together with work preparers, site managers, estimators, and technical specialists, you determine the right approach and actively drive for results.

But your responsibility goes beyond project management alone.

You play an important role in the further growth of STEP in the Northern Netherlands. You expand existing relationships, establish new contacts, and know where the opportunities in the market lie. You understand the demand behind the problem and translate it into technically strong and commercially viable solutions.

Additionally, you help our new branch in the region between Almere and Apeldoorn grow into a strong regional base of operations. You help build a team, a network, and a portfolio that forms the foundation for further growth in the region.

You are therefore not only responsible for your projects, but also for the success of an entire growth region.

• You lead multiple maintenance and renovation projects from preparation through to completion;

• You monitor planning, quality, safety, contractual agreements, and financial results;

• You lead project teams and work closely with site managers, work preparers, estimators, and specialists;

• You maintain intensive contact with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders;

• You further expand existing client relationships and actively develop a network in the Northern Netherlands;

• You identify commercial opportunities and convert them into concrete assignments;

• You contribute to tenders, estimations, and technically smart solutions;

• You help further develop our new branch;

• You make an active contribution to the growth of STEP in the Northern Netherlands.

You don't need to be a classic salesperson with us.

We are looking for a project leader who understands the technical content and knows how to build trust through technical knowledge. Someone who knows the civil market, understands the challenges clients face, and knows how to develop relationships through craftsmanship.

You don't wait until a request comes in. You actively engage in conversation with clients, visit project sites, and investigate where STEP can provide added value. Then, you take action. You connect the right people, develop a strong approach together with colleagues, and remain involved until the assignment is secured and successfully executed.

In this way, you will continuously develop yourself towards an entrepreneurial project leader with commercial responsibility.

You are a decisive and independent project leader who gets energy from growth. You maintain an overview, take responsibility, and switch easily between technology, execution, people, and results.

Commercially, you are strong. You establish contact easily, ask the right questions, and understand what a client needs. You are visible in the market, persuasive in conversations, and know how to actually convert opportunities into assignments.

Experience with concrete renovation, concrete repair, expansion joints, wearing courses, or other specialist renovation techniques is a clear advantage. Within STEP, we work on, among other things, concrete repair, sealing and making structures more sustainable, expansion joints, bitumen works, and wearing courses.
