The role

KWS Infra Rotterdam-Zwijndrecht plays at a Champions League level within road construction in Zuid-Holland and has built an excellent reputation in the region. We are proud of that. Sustainability plays a central role within KWS. As a Road Construction Estimator, you contribute to thinking about the application of sustainable construction methods, circular materials, emission reduction, CO₂ reduction, and innovative solutions within the infrastructure sector starting from the design phase. You translate sustainability objectives into feasible and economically sound choices within tenders and projects. In this way, you directly contribute to the sustainability of the Dutch infrastructure and the living environment of tomorrow.

Regarding the size of the projects, our regional projects up to €10 million are managed from the branch in Zwijndrecht. Projects from €10 million within the province of Zuid-Holland are integrally tendered and managed by our head office in Vianen, but calculated from our office in Zwijndrecht. You also play an active role within these projects.

For example, you will regularly work together with our colleagues from KWS@vice, our consultancy firm for infrastructure and sustainability, and with infrastructural sister companies within VolkerWessels such as Van Hattum & Blankevoort, Vialis, and VolkerRail. This gives you the opportunity to work on complex multidisciplinary projects in the fields of road construction, mobility, rail, hydraulic engineering, and civil engineering.

What you'll do

Your job
As an Infra and Road Construction Estimator at KWS Rotterdam-Zwijndrecht, you are responsible for preparing cost calculations, estimates, and budgets for various infrastructural projects. This ranges from local road construction projects starting from €10,000 to complex multidisciplinary projects with a value of more than €100 million. Think of asphalt projects, earthworks, sewerage works, reconstructions, maintenance projects, and sustainable infrastructural projects. You will work on both RAW specifications as well as integral UAV-GC and D&C contracts, such as the expansion of the Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) container terminal.

You are able to grasp complex infrastructural projects, handle calculations, and collaborate with the purchasing department regarding pricing or request it independently from suppliers and subcontractors. Additionally, you make sustainable and innovative choices as early as the tender phase, maintain contacts with our chain partners, and work closely with tender managers, project leaders, and clients to achieve a winning bid. You also discuss the bidding strategy with our management and ensure a smooth handover to our execution teams.

As a Calculator, you will also visit project locations to properly assess projects, inventory risks, and gather the necessary information. In addition, you will be part of various tender teams, collaborating on challenging tenders within the GWW (civil engineering) sector.
