Your role

As an SHE Specialist, you are the central point of contact for everything related to Safety, Health & Environment within VDL Konings. You report to the QHSE Manager and work closely with QA and QE colleagues who focus on the quality of production and engineering processes.

Your base is Swalmen, but you will also regularly be present at our production location in Born. By being visibly present on the shop floor, you know what is happening, where risks arise, and where the greatest opportunities for improvement lie.

Within VDL Konings, you are the primary SHE specialist and are given plenty of room to set priorities, initiate improvements, and bring the organization along in this process. You move effortlessly between policy and practice and ensure that safety, health, and environment are a structural part of daily business operations.

• You advise management and employees on Safety, Health & Environment and translate laws and regulations into practically applicable policies.
• You develop and implement improvement initiatives that contribute to working safely, healthily, and with environmental awareness.
• You initiate and supervise RI&E's, HAZOP's, audits, workplace inspections, and other SHE analyses.
• You facilitate incident investigations and root cause analyses and monitor the follow-up of improvement measures.
• You strengthen the safety culture by actively involving employees and managers in awareness and behavioral change.
• You fulfill the role of prevention officer and are responsible for the further development of the BHV organization.
• You play an active role in maintaining and improving the environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 and contribute to the further professionalization of SHE management systems.

You are a substantively strong SHE professional who switches easily between the shop floor, management, and board of directors. You know how to get people on board, address colleagues when necessary, and understand that sustainable improvements only arise when policy and practice align.
