Safety & Health Engineer

• You possess at least a level 4 technical education and hold a diploma in occupational safety, or are willing to learn this;

• You have good oral and written communication skills, in both Dutch and English;

• You possess sharp observational and analytical skills and are able to initiate behavioral change through coaching and other influence techniques;

• You work in a planned manner and write clear reports and recommendations

As a Safety & Health Engineer, you will contribute operationally to the continuous improvement of working conditions at the plant, where you maintain an eye for technology, people, and behavior. Your responsibilities include, among others, drafting risk assessments, performing and following up on periodic audits, conducting accident investigations, and providing pragmatic training to employees in the areas of both food and machine safety. You also hold an advisory and supportive role for managers and employees. You are regularly present on the shop floor, where you provide constructive feedback to your colleagues and act as a point of contact.

You will be working in Kruiningen as part of the SHE team, reporting to the SH&E manager. This is a full-time role, working in day shifts.

What does your work look like?

• You identify and assess safety and health risks on the shop floor and proactively support managers in resolving them.

• You are coaching and actively present on the shop floor (more than half of the working time).

• You organize the content of evacuation drills and emergency response (BHV) training.

• You optimize the contractor safety management of the plant.

• You monitor that the measures from the RI&E (Risk Inventory and Evaluation) and Safety bases are followed and implemented, as well as their periodic reporting.

• You ensure that H&S documentation is kept up to date, including the procedures and instructions in the DMS and the RI&E.
