What you bring:
• You have a completed education in safety studies (IVK or HVK); candidates with an MVK diploma and appropriate additional experience are explicitly invited to apply;

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience within Safety, Health & Environment;

Please note: A VOG (Certificate of Good Conduct) and the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance are mandatory for this position.

Nice to have

• Strong affinity with technology; experience with or interest in maritime technology is a plus;
• Excellent command of the Dutch and English languages (required);

The role

Royal IHC is looking for a Senior HSE Specialist for the Health, Safety & Environment department.

In this role, you will support the business in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment, both on Royal IHC premises and at project locations. You are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE policies and guidelines, so that activities can be carried out safely, sustainably, and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

As an HSE Specialist, you report directly to the Manager Health, Safety & Environment and will primarily work for the shipyard in Kinderdijk. You are not only responsible for safeguarding policy, but also for advancing Royal IHC: you initiate improvements, stimulate a proactive safety culture, and translate HSE policy into practical and workable solutions.
Additionally, you have a coordinating role in the I-CARE safety program and contribute to the further professionalization of HSE within Royal IHC.

What you'll do

• Managing the management system according to ISO-45001 and ISO-14001 certificates;
• Coordinating and further developing the I-CARE safety program;
• Acting as a senior sparring partner for management and the shipyard;
• Realizing the objectives from the HSE plan;
• Conducting investigations following accidents and unsafe situations;
• Supporting the organization in compliance with HSE procedures and instructions;
• Preparing the necessary analyses, reports, and implementation of preventive measures.
