What we're looking for

This job suits you if you can work well independently and dare to make decisions. You challenge yourself to provide good service every time. You are someone who:

Can communicate well in Dutch and English.
Has a service-oriented and proactive attitude.
Has an affinity with logistical processes.
Has good vision. You can distinguish colors and also hear well. Glasses or lenses are no problem up to a maximum of +5 or -8. You are also between 160 cm and 200 cm tall.

Furthermore, you have:

MBO 3 work and thinking level.
Age 18+.
Own transport (bicycle, scooter, car) to be able to reach your location within 45 minutes.

Please note:

A positive Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is a requirement to start in this position.
You are willing to work in rotating shifts. You work an early shift (07:00-15:00), late shift (15:00-23:00), or night shift (23:00-07:00). You can also be scheduled on weekends and public holidays.
Because working as a platform process leader demands quite a bit physically, it is important that you are healthy, have good physical fitness, and literally stand firmly on your feet.
NS has a 36-hour work week. Working part-time, with a minimum of 24 hours, is negotiable after the training period.
With a 36-hour work week, you work 40 hours one week and 32 hours the next. This means you will be scheduled for one day off every 2 weeks.

Education & certifications

Training
Have you been hired? Then you will follow an internal training program of 11 weeks (36 hours per week). You will work in practice at the location under the guidance of a workplace mentor and you will follow lessons at the NS Learning Center in Amersfoort. You will also follow e-learning modules and have workplace assignments. This allows you to combine professional knowledge with practical experience.

For this vacancy, based on a 36-hour work week, we offer:

Salary:

Starting salary up to € 3,186.00 gross per month.
Ultimately, your salary can rise to € 3,831.84 gross per month during your career.

Paid training and salary from your 1st working day.

The role

You maintain an overview during the coupling and uncoupling of trains and help passengers with their questions. Wherever you are and whenever you work, you are there as a platform process leader for the passengers and for your colleagues.

What you'll do

As a platform process leader, you ensure that the train service at a station runs as smoothly as possible. After a (paid) training program, you will be ready to provide our passengers with a pleasant journey. Thanks in part to your knowledge, enthusiasm, and service orientation, you will soon be of invaluable importance in:

Supporting the operational process and the adjustment process of the train service. You know how to tackle logistical problems in the train service and resolve them with the help of various colleagues.
Informing passengers and providing service. As a platform process leader, you answer questions from our passengers at the station and on the platforms.
Liaising with colleagues such as the platform coordinator, RET drivers, and the control center (responsible for the adjustment of rolling stock and personnel) to prevent unsafe situations.
Evacuating the station in case of emergencies. As an evacuation leader, you take the lead here and dare to make important decisions.

About the company & team

The employees of NS operations are the face of NS. Together with all your NS colleagues, you ensure every day that over 1 million people reach their destination.

You start the day with a briefing and receive your duty card, of course accompanied by a cup of coffee. Together with your team, you ensure constant attention/action towards our passengers and the logistical process of the station. You are primarily present outside on the platform and observe the train movements and assist, where necessary, to keep the trains at your station punctual.

You are the ears and eyes at the station. Because you are outside a lot, you don't mind having to walk a lot, sometimes as much as 15 km in a day. In addition to the logistical process, you will also have to provide service. Whether it is a question from a passenger, a concern from a driver/head conductor, or a defect at the station. The platform process leader is the point of contact. In case of emergencies, you are the evacuation leader and you know your station well, so that you can direct the emergency services and manage colleagues.
