The role
You are the ultimate calling card of the train.
As a conductor, you are part of our Topteam on the train and have a job where you put the passenger experience at the center every day in your own way. And you do much more. You provide information and service to our passengers, you check travel documents, and you ensure a safe environment on the train. Every day is different and you switch between many different situations. One thing remains the same: you try to make the passenger experience as pleasant as possible every single trip, and you have a lot of freedom in that.
What you'll do
Thanks in part to your knowledge, enthusiasm, and service orientation, you will soon be of invaluable importance in:
- Informing passengers and providing service. As a conductor, you answer questions on the train and outside on the platform, you handle announcements on the train, and thus inform our passengers.
- Ensuring the train departs on time by correctly executing a departure procedure. This involves, among other things, checking if everyone has boarded, checking if the signal is safe, whistling when closing the doors, and ensuring the doors actually close.
- Checking passengers' travel documents.
- Coordinating with colleagues from Safety & Service and the driver to prevent unsafe situations and during emergencies.
How you'll work
- With a 36-hour work week, you work 40 hours one week and 32 hours the next. This means you will be scheduled for one day off every 2 weeks.
- After the training period, it is possible to work part-time (24 or 32 hours per week) following approval from your team manager.
- You are willing to work according to a continuous full-time roster. This means you can be scheduled for day shifts, night shifts, weekend shifts, and on public holidays on an alternating basis. It is important that you are available for all shifts. On average, you work 2 out of 3 weekends.

Good to know:
- At NS, we find everyone unique. You see this in everything we do, and therefore also in our recruitment policy.
- The application procedure includes, among other things, a background check and requesting a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).
- With this vacancy, we wish to recruit our new colleague ourselves. This is therefore NOT a call for acquisition.
