Junior / Assistant Controller

Are you an ambitious finance starter or a professional at the beginning of your career and do you want to develop yourself within a professional Finance team? For Merford Holding in Gorinchem, we are looking for a Junior / Assistant Controller who forms the connecting link between the financial administration and the controllers.

The position
In this role, you ensure that figures are correct, transparent, and available in a timely manner for analysis and reporting. You will work closely with the Senior Controller and support reporting, analyses, and projects. At the same time, you will have intensive contact with the financial administration. You will safeguard the quality of the data and ensure smooth cooperation within the department.

After your onboarding period, you will step by step gain ownership over specific reports and analyses, with a view to growing into a Controller. You will join an open and professional working environment where collaboration, development, and ownership are central.

What will you do?
As a Junior / Assistant Controller:

• You will support the preparation and improvement of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports

• You will help with the preparation of budgets and forecasts

• You will support the consolidation of financial reports

• You will contribute to financial analyses and the preparation of business cases

• You will support the monthly closing

• You will monitor project administrations and oversee work in progress

• You will analyze goods and inventory movements

• You will actively contribute ideas for process improvements within Finance

• You will contribute to the further development of dashboards (e.g., in Power BI)

You are accurate, communicative, and feel responsible for the quality and timeliness of your work. You want to understand where figures come from (the story behind the numbers). You find it logical to first learn the basics of the administration well, because that makes you a better controller. You enjoy collaborating and making processes smarter.
