After your training, do you want to further develop in oncological and gastrointestinal surgery and work with the latest techniques, including robotic surgery? At Maastricht UMC+, you will be given the space to distinguish yourself surgically, scientifically, and personally.
As a fellow, you will delve into the broad spectrum of oncological and gastrointestinal surgery. You will work in an academic center where complex patient care, innovation, and scientific ambition converge. As a leading robotic center, MUMC+ offers you plenty of opportunities to become proficient in minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgery.
Together, we will draw up a personal training plan that aligns with your ambitions. You can specialize in specific areas of interest, undertake external internships, and make use of our scientific expertise. Participation in the organ retrieval program is also among the possibilities.
The combination of highly complex academic care and a broad regional and urban function offers you a versatile clinical experience. Based on our core values—leading, driven, empathetic, and connecting—we prepare you for a future as an independent surgeon within a partnership or department, in the Netherlands or abroad.
You will work in a department where collegiality and innovation are highly valued. In addition to gastrointestinal surgery and surgical oncology, there is also a Pediatric Surgery section and a Trauma Surgery section within our department. All sections have a strong drive to optimize patient care and to innovate through scientific research and available innovations. All sections collaborate intensively regionally, but also internationally with hospitals in the Euregio. This offers excellent opportunities to gain as much experience as possible. And of course, you will benefit from the beautiful living and working environment in Maastricht and South Limburg: in the coming time, you will be working in one of the most beautiful cities in the Netherlands! We also work closely with the separate Vascular Surgery department, among other things for the training of our residents (AIOS).
To be eligible for this vacancy, you must be registered as a surgeon in the RGS register.
Naturally, you are an active and enthusiastic surgeon, which fits the atmosphere of our department: positive work ethic, collegiality, respect, and humor. You feel at home in the climate of training and education, and you contribute actively to it.
For this position, it is required that you can provide a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) before the start of employment.
To start successfully in this role, it is important that you have a good command of the Dutch language (minimum B2 level) due to contact with, among others, patients and colleagues. Additionally, it is a requirement that you are permitted to work in the Netherlands (EU/EEA nationality or a valid work permit).
Do you meet these job requirements? Then we will go for you!
Depending on education and experience, the salary is at least € 7,727 and at most € 9,136 gross per month for a full-time appointment. This salary is exclusive of holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% of your gross annual salary.
This concerns an employment contract of 1 year with the possibility of an extension of 1 year, for an average of 32 to 40 hours per week (excluding shifts) in accordance with article 2.4.2 Cao umc. During weeks with on-call shifts, you are deployable for 44 hours per week.
You are expected to perform shifts, in which the entire palette of GE-oncological surgery is covered with a staff surgeon as back-up, so that as a junior surgeon you always have backup for difficult problems during the shift.
At Maastricht UMC+, we ensure that you have everything to make your contribution to ultimate care. The right employment conditions belong with that. Read here what we offer you.
