Do you want to make the work of healthcare professionals, policy advisors, and administrators in acute care easier? Do you want to be a pioneer in a data-driven environment where information is the key to better care? Are you that driven professional who helps build, maintain, and improve the NAZL data platform? Then join us as a Data Engineer in a team that, just like you, works with enthusiasm on innovation and progress in acute care.
At Netwerk Acute Zorg Limburg (NAZL), data is growing into a core pillar for data-driven care. As a Data Engineer, you will not only lay the foundation for a reliable and scalable data platform, but your solutions will ensure that healthcare professionals and policymakers can rely on accurate, up-to-date, and accessible data. You make the difference by:
✔️ Building and maintaining a stable data infrastructure that the entire network can build upon.
✔️ Collecting, combining, and making data available for ROAZ insights and national sources, in collaboration with all chain partners.
✔️ Supporting and helping to develop dashboards and reports, so that data is deployed in an action-oriented manner.
✔️ Building a network with other data engineers at healthcare organizations in Limburg, to share knowledge and work together on future-proof solutions.
Your Responsibilities
Maintaining and updating existing ETL pipelines and data models to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the data platform.
Developing and optimizing SQL queries and data structures for fast, reliable data access.
Supporting the building of Power BI dashboards and reports, in collaboration with analysts and end users.
Implementing data quality controls and standards (including validation, lineage, metadata), with an eye for security-by-design and compliance (GDPR, healthcare-specific regulations).
Collecting and combining data from various sources (including ERP, healthcare systems, CBS, Vektis, CRM) for ROAZ insights and other national reports.
Automating repetitive tasks (e.g., schema updates, data refreshes) to reduce manual work.
Collaborating with IT, healthcare professionals, and external parties to set up data flows securely and efficiently (e.g., in isolated environments).
Advising on data management and governance, with attention to scalability and future-proofing.
Thinking along about standards and automation to make the data platform future-proof.
You will be working within the Netwerk Acute Zorg Limburg (NAZL), a regional network in which healthcare organizations and professionals work together on well-organized and future-proof acute care in Limburg. Data and information play an increasingly important role in this. As a Data Engineer, you will get the opportunity to help build the further development of our data infrastructure and data-driven information provision from the ground up.
You will be part of a compact and multidisciplinary NAZL team, in which different expertise comes together. In doing so, you will work closely with the Project Leader Information & Data and with colleagues involved in programs and projects in the field of acute care, RCO, or infection prevention & antimicrobial resistance. Additionally, you will have a lot of contact with data and IT professionals within the affiliated healthcare organizations and with national collaboration partners.
The role is broad: on one hand, you are technically engaged with data flows, ETL processes, SQL, data models, and data quality, and on the other hand, you work together with colleagues and healthcare professionals to determine how data can best be unlocked and applied. As a result, you will see directly what your technical solutions are being used for. Your work forms the basis for, among other things, ROAZ insights, dashboards, and other information products used for acute care in Limburg.
Because the NAZL data platform is fully under development, there is plenty of room to think along and take initiative. You will not only be tasked with managing existing data flows but will also actively contribute ideas regarding standards, automation, architecture, and the further professionalization of the platform. We also find it important to share knowledge. You will therefore be given the space to build a network with data engineers and IT professionals within the region and to work together on future-proof solutions.
Experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, publishing/managing reports).
Experience with API connections (between systems such as knowledge platforms and data platforms).
Analytical ability: You see patterns in data and translate them into practical solutions.
Proactive and solution-oriented: You identify bottlenecks and propose improvements.
Collaborative attitude: You enjoy working with colleagues from healthcare, IT, and management.
Eager to learn: You are open to new tools and methods (e.g., CI/CD, data governance).
A challenging and varied job in acute care in Limburg, where you make a direct impact.
Room for your own initiative and the opportunity to think along about the future of NAZL.
Collaboration with leading healthcare institutions in Limburg.
Access to unique datasets (including national trauma registration, capacity data)
Hybrid working (home/office) with flexible employment conditions
