The role

We are Tech Hub Private Cloud, part of KPN System Integrator for Business Netherlands. From our unique and secure Private Cloud environment, we deliver modern IT services that align with our customers' needs. Our solutions are available at customer locations, from the Dutch KPN data centers, and in the public cloud. With expertise in Cloud, security, network, storage, and data management, we work together with customers to build a digitally resilient and data-driven future.

Within the Private Cloud, Platform & Development department, we form the Data team. Within KPN, we manage the central platform for storage services. As driven professionals, we make the possibilities of ICT data secure, simple, and accessible for our internal and business customers. We provide the management of data access, data storage, and data protection.

You will work in a team of 20 data professionals responsible for the storage and protection of data for KPN's large enterprise customers. We work closely with customers, vendors, and internal architecture and product teams on innovation, standardization, and operational excellence.

What you'll do

As a Platform Engineer Backup & Recovery, you are responsible for the entire lifecycle of our data protection and backup services. You manage, develop, and innovate the platform to unlock data services for VMware, Kubernetes, databases, enterprise applications, and hybrid cloud environments, within both private and public clouds.

You fulfill a role with much impact. You translate customer needs into future-proof solutions, advise on data protection, cyber recovery, compliance, and business continuity, and contribute to new propositions, tenders, and complex customer issues. You work according to DevOps principles and are involved in the entire trajectory: from design and implementation to operational management and continuous improvements.

What will you do?

  • You manage and develop data protection and recovery platforms, with a strong focus on Commvault.
  • You monitor and improve the availability, performance, and continuity of the services.
  • You implement and optimize backup, recovery, and cyber resilience solutions, including immutable data storage and cleanroom recovery.
  • You automate management processes and contribute to implementations using Infrastructure as Code and scripting.
  • You make the environment accessible via APIs where possible, for optimal integration and automation.
  • You work intensively with colleagues, other departments within KPN, and suppliers to make new functionalities and innovations available.
  • You advise customers on data protection, cyber recovery, compliance, and business continuity.
  • You continuously improve our processes, platforms, and customer experience and actively share your knowledge within the team.

Functie-eisen

We are looking for an experienced platform engineer with fluent Dutch who resides in the Netherlands. You have a strong technical foundation and a passion for data, security, continuity, and cloud technology. You are analytical, customer-oriented, and feel at home in complex environments. You make technical issues insightful and move easily between design, implementation, and management. For you, it does not stop at thinking of a solution: you also want to build it, test it, and successfully realize it together with your team.

You are curious, capable of execution, and think in terms of possibilities. You get energy from innovation, automation, and collaboration. In an environment where technical depth, knowledge sharing, and customer value are central, you feel completely at home.

Are you the person our customers say: “We would like to have more of this”? Do you like to think along about how work can be smarter, more fun, and better? Then this is your chance. Join Private Cloud and make the difference!
