As a SOC Consultant, you are the substantive sparring partner for clients and the connecting link between their organization and the KPN Security Operations Center. You help clients gain insight into cyber risks, threats, and security incidents and support them in improving their security monitoring and security processes. In doing so, you combine technical knowledge of security operations with strong advisory and communication skills. You translate complex security alerts, threat intelligence, and incidents into concrete risk analyses and practical recommendations. By working closely with analysts, threat hunters, detection engineers, and account teams, you ensure that clients benefit optimally from our managed security services. In this way, you contribute directly to higher cyber resilience for organizations.

In this role:

• You advise your clients on cyber risks, the current threat landscape, and the design of their monitoring strategy.
• You translate SOC alerts and detection results into understandable risk and impact analyses.
• You guide your clients in the design, availability, and optimization of log sources.
• You prepare reports, advisory documents, and improvement plans.
• You prepare and lead operational and tactical client meetings.
• You perform supporting threat research and open-source intelligence research.
• You support your clients and internal teams during security incidents and escalations.
• You identify improvements in detections, use cases, and monitoring coverage.
• You work closely with analysts, threat hunters, detection engineers, and account teams.
• You actively contribute to the further development and optimization of our SOC services.

You are a security professional who knows how to combine technology effortlessly with client advisory. You are analytical, curious, and able to explain complex security issues understandably to different target groups. In doing so, you switch easily between operational details and strategic risks. You build strong relationships with clients, think proactively about improvements, and know how to involve stakeholders at different levels in your advice. Thanks to your communication skills, customer focus, and substantive expertise, you create trust and contribute to sustainable client relationships.

To do this well, you have at least:

• At least 5 years of experience within cybersecurity, SOC services, or security consultancy.
• Experience with security monitoring, incident analysis, and SIEM platforms.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, threat intelligence, detection processes, and modern attack techniques.
• Experience with assessing and explaining the impact of security alerts and incidents.
• Experience with client meetings and stakeholder management at operational, tactical, and strategic levels.
• An excellent command of the Dutch and English languages.

Additionally, experience with the Elastic Stack, Trend Micro solutions, Managed Security Services, or the automation of recurring tasks is a strong plus.
