Requirements
What we're looking for
You are BIG-registered as a nurse practitioner.
The role
Make the difference as a Nurse Practitioner in our Geriatric Clinic!
Step into a challenging and dynamic role where your expertise truly makes the difference. At the Open Geriatric Clinic you will work with a diverse group of clients aged 65 and older who are struggling with acute psychiatric problems such as psychosis, bipolar disorders, depression, and personality disorders. This is the place where your knowledge and care are the key to a better quality of life for our clients.
Together with the multidisciplinary team, you will commit yourself to making the path to recovery for our clients as effective and personal as possible. We focus on short-term treatments, clear diagnosis, and the creation of clear treatment plans, always with an eye for the client and their loved ones.
What you'll do
As a nurse practitioner working in the open geriatric clinic, you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and referrers and will lead team meetings and care coordination discussions.
Your responsibilities include coordinating care, diagnostics, drafting treatment plans, and monitoring medication, psychotherapy, and recovery-oriented interventions. Together with the client, family, and the rest of the team, you shape the treatment.
You provide consultation and advice to other team members, such as psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, experience workers, nurses, and caregivers, regarding complex cases. In doing so, you share your expertise and support the implementation of treatment strategies.
We are looking for a nurse practitioner who gets energy from getting to the bottom of complex problems and who loves to work closely with a wide range of colleagues toward recovery.  >
Where will you work?
The Open Geriatric Clinic of the Nieuwe Valerius is a Top-GGZ inpatient ward with 21 beds. Our client population consists of elderly people (65+) with acute psychiatric problems. Think of severe depression, psychosis, various forms of dementia, somatic symptom disorders, and catatonia. Complexity is the rule, which is why this ward also specializes in performing clinical second opinions. Special attention is given here to persistent depression, complex neuropsychiatry, and complex end-of-life wishes.
Because we are an open ward, preserving autonomy is in our DNA. Our goal is to work together with clients and their loved ones to search for treatment goals that are relevant to them, and in that way, enable them to return to the best possible functioning and the highest possible quality of life. We establish diagnoses, provide short-term biopsychosocial treatments, and lay out the lines for outpatient follow-up.
We offer biological treatment (medication, rTMS, ECT, and esketamine within a study context), there is room for psychotherapy and group treatments, and finally, there is always extensive attention for the socio-economic context of the client.
You will work together and lead a very broad and well-functioning multidisciplinary team including nurses, group leaders, an AIOS psychiatry, an AIOS internal geriatric medicine, a nurse practitioner in training, a dietitian, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, a creative arts therapist, a social worker, a clinical neuropsychologist, a psychologist in training to become a GZ-psychologist, and a basic psychologist.
In addition to the open ward, there is also a closed ward for the elderly; there is an intensive exchange between these wards, ensuring there is always room for consultation with fellow geriatric psychiatrists. We have excellent partnerships with hospitals and other mental health clinics. We work intensively with the outpatient geriatric teams and the neuromodulation department of GGZ inGeest. We also have close ties with the Department of Internal Geriatric Medicine and the Alzheimer Center of the Amsterdam UMC.
What you bring & what we offer?
You will receive a permanent contract immediately.
The position is scaled in FWG 65 CAO GGZ.

With #Geestverwanten, we show who we really are: people who take care blood-seriously, but who, fortunately, do not always take themselves seriously. Especially now that healthcare is demanding a lot, we are looking for colleagues who understand that laughing is at least as important as listening.
