The role
De Vries Scheepsbouw belongs to the world elite in the construction of luxury superyachts. From our locations in Makkum and Aalsmeer, we have been building the most exclusive superyachts in the world for generations. At the same time, we face a new challenge. The energy transition, climate goals, and the development of sustainable technologies are changing the way superyachts are designed and built. HVAC systems play an increasingly important role in this. Not only for comfort on board, but also as an essential part of the total energy management of a yacht.
What you'll do
Do you want to provide direction to and take the lead in the development of innovative HVAC and energy technology for the world's most beautiful superyachts? As Development Engineer HVAC & Innovation, you lay the technical foundation for future-proof systems. You create the basic design, define the performance requirements, and work together with suppliers to ensure successful realization and verification of the system on board.
As a driven engineer, you also research new technologies and translate these into future-proof concepts that contribute to comfort, energy efficiency, and the optimal utilization of waste heat on board. In doing so, you assess the new technology based on the added value for our customer. Defining and guiding innovation projects, including the building and testing of prototypes, will be part of the role. You will be given plenty of room to initiate innovative projects together with colleagues and to contribute to the further development of HVAC system integration, optimal control, and diagnostics.
In this way, from this foundation, you will be the specialist within our organization in the field of HVAC systems and energy technology. You translate the latest developments into concrete applications and contribute to the further sustainability and innovation of our superyachts.
- Drafting and testing HVAC system performance requirements.
- Setting up the basic design (schematic) of the HVAC system.
- Collaborating with and assessing the detailed engineering of suppliers.
- Developing and improving cooling, heating, and ventilation technology.
- Optimizing designs based on data-driven analyses.
- Advising engineering and project teams.
You draft global HVAC designs that are further elaborated by specialized suppliers, and you monitor the quality, manufacturability, and performance of these elaborations. You perform verification calculations, assess quotes and technical proposals, and ensure that HVAC systems meet the stated functional, technical, and quality standards.
