Requirements
What we're looking for
- Completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in Maritime Technology and at least five years of relevant experience in (super)yacht or shipbuilding.
- In-depth knowledge of production and engineering processes.
- Strong in communication: you translate complex construction issues into clear advice.
- Analytical and abstract thinker; monitors your own and others' quality.
- Team player who stimulates collaboration and is open to new ideas.
- Proficiency in the Dutch language is truly necessary in this role. The working language and most documentation are in Dutch.
The role
Every twelve months, an average of three luxury superyachts leave our dry docks right next to your workplace. Each ship is unique, meets the highest requirements for construction, comfort, and finish, and is fully custom-designed for a demanding client.
As an engineer, you ensure that wishes such as "fewer pillars on the outer deck" become technically feasible, without compromising strength or vibration comfort. With your calculating power, insight, and creativity, you take the end result to a higher level and help Feadship move towards emission-free sailing.
What you'll do
- Coordinating the complete construction engineering process: from basic design to detail engineering.
- Acting as a central hub between the client, suppliers, and production—sometimes even before the contract is signed.
- Assessing supplier quotes and advising procurement and the project team.
- Directing and monitoring (sub)contractors regarding quality, progress, and integration with disciplines such as Electrical, Interior, Exterior, Naval Architecture, and Mechanical Engineering.
- Work on one or two projects at a time, so that you know every weld, brace, and beam through and through.
"With every custom-built yacht, we are challenged to push the boundaries of what is possible. We do not shy away from even challenging the laws of physics." Dominique Sernets, Construction Engineer
In short:
- Project responsibility for the integration of construction with other disciplines;
- Discussion partner for all construction issues for the project team and the client representation;
- Substantive assessment of supplier offers and advising procurement and the project team;
- Guiding subcontractors and suppliers during their engineering process and assessing them on consistency, integration, quality, and progress;
In short:
What you bring
Good compensation is more than a good salary. For us, enjoyment in the work and a good balance between work and private life are at least as important. The more you enjoy yourself, the better your contribution to our projects.
- A salary between € 3,600 and € 6,000 (full-time) appropriate to your knowledge and experience;
- 40 days off per year with full-time employment (27 vacation days plus 13 ATV).
- Ample opportunities to develop yourself, for example by following training and courses;
- A working week of 32 to 40 hours
- Travel allowance of € 0.25 per kilometer.
- Great colleagues and a pleasant and active staff association.
- Plenty of variety and freedom during your activities.
Every Feadship is custom built and cannot exist without your contribution. Therefore, there is always a piece of yourself in it. That gives a sense of responsibility. But also certainly a sense of pride. And that is perhaps the most important thing we can offer you.
