Working for the City of Rotterdam means working for a city that constantly reinvents itself and is known for being innovative and international. A city also with complex issues and major societal challenges. At this forefront, you work for and together with more than 620,000 Rotterdammers. Such a city deserves a contemporary government. We offer you space and opportunities to continue helping Rotterdam and, with it, yourself.
The Social Development cluster stimulates the maximum development of talent in a healthy body. In doing so, we start from the strength of the Rotterdammers, even when they cannot stand on their own feet. The aim is that everyone develops their talent, learns and/or works, is socially active if learning or working is not possible, and takes care of their own health. Sport, culture, education, and basic care contribute to this. We offer light support if the environment cannot provide it. Or more intensive care where truly necessary. We do this on behalf of the board and area committees and together with social partners.
Every neighborhood in Rotterdam has its own neighborhood team that knows the area well: the problems, but also the places where possible solutions can be found for the Rotterdammers. In total, there are 43 neighborhood teams divided across 4 districts (departments). Additionally, a special neighborhood team for Ukrainian refugees was established in May 2022.
The war in Ukraine occupies us all. Millions of Ukrainians have left everything behind to seek refuge in other European countries from the violence of war. In the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region, approximately 2,500 refugees are currently being accommodated. Fleeing Ukrainians are being accommodated by the City of Rotterdam in reception locations and in private homes.
The Ukraine Neighborhood Team essentially has the same way of working as the regular neighborhood teams, but all your clients are Ukrainian refugees and/or status holders. In Rotterdam, there are multiple reception locations where Ukrainian refugees with a disability are accommodated.
Listen to what Zakiya says about her work in the neighborhood team.

The full-time gross monthly salary is at least € 3,551 and at most € 5,200 based on a 36-hour work week (CAO for disability care, scale 55). A CAO salary increase will take place on November 1, 2026.
We offer good secondary employment conditions, including:
An end-of-year bonus of 8.33% of the gross annual salary and an 8% holiday allowance;
Market-conforming travel allowance and an NS Businesscard for work;
201 leave hours (full-time) per year, with the possibility to buy and sell leave hours;
A good pension at PFZW, the pension fund voted best in the Netherlands in 2021;
A laptop and a smartphone;
In addition, you will be offered a thorough induction process in a pleasant working atmosphere. You will be paired with an experienced colleague, have regular peer review meetings, and be offered multiple training courses. Furthermore, after one year of employment, you will build up an individual training budget. We will look at the possibilities together for achieving SKJ registration in the short term.
