The role

MEE Rotterdam Rijnmond helps people with a disability to live as independently, balanced, and autonomously as possible. Our motto is making participation possible.

Due to the expansion of the team, we have a challenging vacancy within our Care and Education team for the position of Care and Education Specialist (ZOS).

What you'll do

As a care and education specialist, you focus on issues at the intersection of youth care and education. You look at how education, the partnership, and potentially youth care can play a role in supporting the social-emotional development of the student within education.

What you will do
You have an advisory role regarding which form of youth care is needed for students, parents, and schools at the moment students experience social-emotional difficulties within education.

The students who are referred go to regular education (primary and secondary) and special education (clusters 3 and 4), practical education, and MBO1. The issues faced by the students are very diverse, such as students with ASD, ADHD, attachment issues, trauma, anxiety, problems in speech-language development, and social-emotional development.

Together with the student, the parents, and the school, you investigate whether youth care within education is the best option, or if a comparable alternative is possible. You provide parents with information and advice and, where necessary, you determine the goals and intensity of the support.

It is important to make connections with various parties and to have insight into the entire range of services, both in the field of youth care and education. As a care and education specialist, you look at what is needed and provide appropriate advice. In doing so, you maintain contacts with schools and youth care providers. The request for help and the support needs of the student (or the family) are always central.

A working week

You work on weekdays, alternating between the office and from home. You are on the road to appointments at schools almost every working day. After an appointment, you go to the office (or home) to work on the elaboration of your research and advice. You can consult with your colleagues. Once a week, you perform a desk duty. You then answer all emails addressed to the ZOS team and questions that come in by telephone. Every week you have a case consultation with a portion of your colleagues; you discuss your progress and decisions made. During the week, you have multiple (telephone) consultations with partners such as schools, the district team members of the municipality of Rotterdam, and the various care providers offering support within education. You are responsible for your own caseload, with an average turnaround time of 6 weeks.

Our offer

After an employment period of one year, we essentially extend for an indefinite period. The full-time gross monthly salary is at least € 3,551 and at most € 5,200 based on a 36-hour work week (CAO Gehandicaptenzorg, scale 55).

We offer good secondary employment conditions, including:

  • Year-end bonus of 8.33% of the gross annual salary and 8% holiday allowance;

  • NS Businesscard;

  • 201 leave hours (full-time) per year, with the possibility to buy and sell leave hours;

  • Discount with favorable conditions on various insurances from Centraal Beheer

  • Laptop and a smartphone;

  • Full reimbursement of the costs for: a current Certificate of Conduct (VOG), SKJ registration and/or registration as a client supporter in the registerplein.

Additionally, you will be offered a thorough induction process in a pleasant working atmosphere. You will be paired with an experienced colleague, have regular peer review meetings, and are offered multiple trainings/courses. Furthermore, after one year of employment, you build up a personal training budget.
