The role

We are currently looking for two Senior HR Business Partners, each of whom will carry responsibility for their own portfolio. The precise distribution of portfolios will be determined in consultation, with a view towards a distinction between the Legal professionals, consisting of lawyers, civil law notaries, and tax specialists, and the Business professionals.

Within your portfolio, you are responsible for the strategic HR agenda and you advise partners, managers, and the board on complex personnel and organizational issues. You translate the strategy and developments within the organization into concrete HR priorities and ensure coherence between the needs of the practice, the organizational interest, and the development of our professionals.

You fulfill a key role in topics such as performance, talent and leadership development, workforce planning, rotations, secondments, division of labor, and absenteeism. In doing so, you look beyond individual cases. You recognize patterns, bring risks and opportunities into view, and influence decision-making based on a clear vision and sound analysis.

You are part of an HR team of approximately 25 colleagues, divided across People Services, HR Advice, and Talent Development. Within the HR Advice sub-team, you work closely with the other HR Business Partners and, drawing on your experience, you also provide substantive direction and guidance to less experienced HR colleagues.

Your portfolio will consist of approximately 120-150 professionals and partners/managers, divided across multiple practice groups/departments, combined with projects and improvement initiatives.

What you'll do

  • You are a strategic HR partner for partners, managers, and the board within your portfolio. You advise, both proactively and reactively, on complex personnel, organizational, and leadership issues.
  • Together with the business, you develop a clear HR agenda for your portfolio and ensure that this aligns with the broader strategy and priorities of De Brauw.
  • You bear responsibility for the quality and coherence of the annual performance, talent, and appraisal cycle, including promotion and succession issues.
  • You provide direction to the (semi-)annual personnel and rotation planning. In doing so, you advise on capacity, staffing, workload, talent development, retention, and future personnel needs.
  • You guide partners and managers through complex individual and team issues and help them to effectively fulfill their leadership and people management responsibilities.
  • You analyze developments and recurring issues within your portfolio and translate these into proposals for HR strategy, policy, and organization-wide improvement.
  • You initiate and lead organization-wide HR and change processes, create support among relevant stakeholders, and monitor progress and intended impact.
  • You follow relevant external developments and translate these into opportunities, risks, and concrete proposals for De Brauw and your portfolio.
  • You work closely with colleagues within HR Advice, People Services, and Talent Development and contribute to an integrated and professional HR service delivery.
  • You act as a substantive point of contact and coach for less experienced HR colleagues and actively contribute to the further professionalization of the HR team.
  • You contribute to an open and transparent work culture in which quality, collaboration, learning, and professional growth are central.

Who are you?

You are an experienced and persuasive, authoritative HR professional who moves easily in a complex, knowledge-intensive, and demanding environment. You are not only a strategic sparring partner, but you also find it natural to have your feet firmly on the ground in operations when the situation calls for it. You are able to quickly grasp complex issues, bring different interests together, and influence decision-making. You maintain an overview, set priorities, and ensure that plans actually lead to results.
