What you'll get

At De Brauw, you work in a professional and ambitious environment where your expertise is directly visible and where there is room for innovation and personal initiative. We offer:

  • A challenging position with room to truly take the billing process to a higher level.
  • Direct collaboration with partners and colleagues throughout the organization.
  • Growth opportunities towards a broader financial scope of duties, including accounting responsibilities.
  • A market-competitive salary, appropriate to your experience and the level of the role.
  • A 13th month as part of your annual salary.
  • A good pension scheme and travel allowance based on your commuting distance.

The role

As a Finance Officer, you are a central player in the further professionalization and digitalization of our billing process. You work closely with partners and secretariats and are the fixed point of contact for everything regarding billing. You identify opportunities for improvement, take initiative, and actively contribute ideas for innovation — from working methods to systems. You are part of a Finance Team of 25 colleagues, divided into six subteams: Operational Finance & Control, Billing & Credit Control, Business Finance, Partner Affairs, Procurement, and Transformation. As you further develop in the role, there is the possibility to expand your scope of duties towards accounting activities.

What you'll do

  • Taking responsibility for the complete billing process for one or more practice groups, from preparation to dispatch and follow-up.
  • Working closely with partners and secretariats regarding billing, WIP management, and client agreements.
  • Monitoring the accounts receivable administration and proactively following up on outstanding items.
  • Actively contributing to the digitalization and innovation of the billing process — you identify bottlenecks and come up with concrete proposals for improvement.
  • Processing corrections, credit notes, and adjustments in accordance with internal guidelines and client agreements.
  • Maintaining contact with clients regarding billing questions, instructions, and disputes.
  • Collaborating with other subteams within Finance to ensure smooth and integrated financial processing.
  • Supporting periodic reporting and ad-hoc analyses in the area of billing and revenue.
  • In the long term: expanding your scope of duties towards accounting activities.

Who are you?

You are a service- and result-oriented professional with a proactive attitude, ownership, and a drive to improve and innovate processes. You enjoy linking the possibilities of AI and efficiency to the billing process and prioritize internal and external service. You combine this with strong communication skills and a pleasant, assertive way of collaborating — also with high-level partners. You do not need to bring legal experience, but you do feel at home in a professional services environment.

Furthermore, you possess:

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in a financial role, preferably with a focus on billing, accounts receivable, or financial administration within a professional service provider (for example, a law firm, accounting firm, or consultancy firm).
  • A completed mbo+- or hbo degree in a financial or business administration direction.
  • Demonstrable affinity with digitalization and process improvement — you have experience in initiating or guiding changes in financial working methods or systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to switch naturally between partners and other senior stakeholders.
  • An accurate, structured way of working combined with a proactive and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Technically skilled and digitally savvy; good command of Excel and affinity with financial systems such as Elite or similar is a plus.
  • A good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Affinity with or willingness to take on accounting tasks as part of your further development within the role.
