The role

Do you want to gain practical experience during your studies within large, often international legal matters at one of the leading law firms in the Netherlands? Are you a law student, curious about the possibilities of data and technology within legal practice, and available for approximately 15 hours per week alongside your studies? Then this position is for you!

As a Data Assistant, you will support our Legal Data & Project Management team with a wide range of project management tasks within large, primarily international matters. You will work with legal, administrative, and financial documents, case data, and financial information, helping to carefully collect, check, structure, and make this information insightful. In this way, you will gain a unique insight into both the content and the organization of complex legal matters.

You will view legal and project management work from a Legal Tech perspective: how can documents, information, and recurring tasks be processed and organized more clearly and efficiently using data, smart tooling, and automation? You do not need technical experience for this. You will work under the guidance of experienced colleagues and learn in practice to work with, among other things, Excel, Legal Tech, and AI tools.

This position is ideal if you find legal content interesting and are simultaneously curious about project management, data, and technology. You will gain practical experience within legal matters, develop skills that are becoming increasingly important in the legal sector, and discover how Legal Tech supports the work of lawyers and project teams. In doing so, you will work together with other Data Assistants and Data Science Assistants in a close-knit team.

We are looking for a law student in any stage of their studies who is accurate, curious, and eager to learn. You maintain an overview, ask questions when necessary, and enjoy working with legal information, data, and various stakeholders. You can work independently, but also actively seek collaboration. Furthermore, you possess:

What you'll do

  • Legal and project management documents and case data: collecting, checking, and structuring information and processing this in trackers, reports, and digital systems.
  • Data and reporting: supporting the analysis and making legal, project, and financial data insightful.
  • Local law firms: supporting the engagement and onboarding of local law firms in other jurisdictions and maintaining the necessary related information.
  • Financial support: maintaining budgets, forecasts, invoices, and other financial information relating to a matter.
  • Communication and follow-up: supporting coordination with internal teams and external parties and following up on outstanding information and actions.
  • Legal Tech: thinking along under guidance about practical applications of data, automation, and AI within recurring legal and project management activities.
