The role

Do you have a passion for solving complex logistical, operational, or planning issues? Do you want to use technology to enable organizations to plan smarter and make better decisions? Then this role is for you.

How you'll work

Hours: 32-40

Location: Utrecht / hybrid / client location

Experience level: Junior

What you will do as a Planning & Optimization Developer

In this role, you work at the intersection of business and IT. You are involved from the first client conversation through to the implementation of the solution. This means you aren't just sitting behind your screen: you think along about the question behind the problem, translate wishes into smart solutions, and demonstrate what your team has developed during demos.

Much of the work takes place in workshops and design sessions, in which you collaborate with consultants, architects, and end users. You bring the technical perspective to these sessions: what is possible within standard functionality, where is customization needed, and which solution remains effective and maintainable in the long term?

In doing so, you make use of advanced planning platforms such as Delmia Quintiq, supplemented with integrations, data solutions, and custom components where necessary.

In your role, you are daily engaged in:

  • Designing and developing planning and optimization solutions.
  • Translating business requirements into a technical design.
  • Thinking along in workshops and design sessions with consultants, architects, and end users.
  • Configuring and implementing planning platforms such as Delmia Quintiq.
  • Developing integrations with surrounding systems.
  • Writing qualitative, testable code and reviewing the work of teammates.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing solutions.
  • Demonstrating solutions to clients and users.
  • Advising clients on future improvements and further development.

You are a developer who looks beyond just the technology. You ask the question behind the question and know how to explain technical choices in understandable language. Those who show initiative and take responsibility will quickly find opportunities to further develop themselves with us. Whether that means leading a design session, advising a client, or taking technical responsibility for part of a solution.

Your profile

In addition to strong analytical skills, you are curious, customer-oriented, and proactive. You enjoy solving complex challenges together with clients and are flexible to work both from home and on location.

Additionally, you have:

  • A completed University Master's degree in, for example, Operations Research, Econometrics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or another STEM field.
  • Experience with programming, for example in Python, Java, C#, or similar technologies.
  • Interest in complex planning, optimization, and data issues.
  • Affinity with operational processes such as supply chain, logistics, production planning, or workforce planning.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • The ability to explain technical choices to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent command of both the Dutch and English languages.

* These criteria provide an indication of the profile we are looking for. If you do not meet all the criteria but believe this is the right function for you, we cordially invite you to apply or get in touch anyway.

Your work environment

As a Planning & Optimization Developer, you develop advanced planning and optimization solutions for clients in, among others, supply chain, transport, workforce management, and operations. You build the systems with which organizations solve their most complex planning puzzles and work closely with business consultants, architects, and end users.

You become part of a multidisciplinary team where business knowledge, data, and technology come together. Colleagues with diverse expertise help you to develop yourself quickly, both technically and substantively.
