Are you passionate about ensuring fire safety in buildings?

A building may look beautiful and be full of technical gadgets, but above all, it must be (fire) safe. And you ensure that this is guaranteed. From analyzing construction drawings to performing on-site inspections: you provide practical solutions in the field of fire safety.

As a Fire Safety Advisor, you focus on investigating, analyzing, and assessing existing buildings and new designs. You work on fire safety solutions regarding architectural, installation technology, and organizational aspects. Additionally, you perform on-site inspections and actively communicate with clients to understand their needs and offer optimal fire safety solutions.

You work together with various stakeholders, such as municipalities, contractors, and property managers, and you consult regularly with colleagues within different disciplines such as building physics, acoustics, and sustainability.

• Analytical ability: You can carefully assess and interpret architectural drawings, fire safety plans, and technical reports. You are able to identify potential fire risks, such as unsafe escape routes, flammable materials, or insufficient compartmentation, and you translate these findings into feasible and effective safety solutions.

• Problem-solving ability: For complex fire safety issues, such as securing high-rise buildings, wooden structures, or industrial installations, you can act quickly and offer practical solutions. You work on integrated safety plans that take into account both preventive measures and reactive scenarios, such as evacuation plans and fire-resistant installations.

• Knowledge of regulations: You are excellently informed about the relevant building and fire safety standards such as NEN 6060/6079 for fire resistance, NPR 6095 for escape safety, and the Building Decree requirements. Additionally, you apply specific rules for different building types, such as commercial buildings, healthcare institutions, or monumental buildings, and advise on compliance with these standards in both new and existing buildings.

• Communication skills: You can translate complex fire safety concepts into understandable advice for various stakeholders, from clients and architects to municipalities and safety inspectors. You ensure that your advice is clear and applicable both verbally and in writing, so that it can be implemented without misunderstandings.

• Project management: You manage multiple fire safety projects simultaneously, from new construction to renovations, monitoring progress and ensuring that safety measures are implemented on time and within budget. You supervise inspections and audits and report progress, risks, and solutions to the project team and the client.

• Collaboration skills: In collaboration with architects, structural engineers, and installation technicians, you seamlessly integrate fire safety solutions into the total design of a building. You ensure that your advice aligns with the plans of other disciplines, thereby guaranteeing a holistic approach to fire safety.

• Innovation and eagerness to learn: You continuously stay informed about the latest developments in building materials, fire protection systems, and international regulations. You know how to apply innovations such as fire-resistant coatings or new evacuation and detection technologies in your advice, and you actively participate in courses or seminars to deepen your expertise.

• A salary between €4,400 and €7,000 based on your skills and experience.
