Role description:
In this position, you will work on integrated area development and infrastructure projects in the built environment. Together with multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to sustainable, future-proof, and climate-adaptive solutions for public and private clients. You combine civil engineering expertise with an integrated view of urban development, contracting, and digitalization, and you make a significant contribution to projects from initiative to realization.

Role responsibilities:

• You ensure the coordination, development, and review of civil engineering designs within integrated urban development projects.
• You are the technical point of contact (internal and external) and safeguard the quality, feasibility, and executability of designs in all project phases.
• You advise clients on design choices, contract forms, and technical issues within area development and infrastructure projects.
• You supervise and support (junior) designers and modelers within the department.

In this role, you are effectively 'the director of the outdoor space'. You connect disciplines, stakeholders, and design issues within integrated projects and ensure that all components come together in a future-proof and executable solution. At the same time, you actively contribute to innovation, digitalization, sustainability, climate adaptation, and knowledge development within Arcadis.

Urban Development Advisory Group
Within Urban Development, you work on projects that shape the Netherlands for future generations. Together with approximately 80 colleagues, we develop sustainable residential areas, innovative campuses, energy infrastructure, and new economic clusters. In doing so, we help governments, developers, and private parties to convert complex spatial challenges into feasible and future-proof solutions. Our projects contribute directly to the major transitions of this era: the housing challenge, energy transition, economic development, and the accessibility of cities and regions. We combine strategic advice with design, engineering, and project management, and we guide projects from the initial vision through to realization. What characterizes our team is the combination of ambition, entrepreneurship, and collaboration. Within Urban Development, junior, mid-level, and senior professionals work intensively together on complex multidisciplinary projects. You will be given plenty of room to take responsibility, develop yourself, and collaborate with experts in the fields of mobility, sustainability, economics, urban planning, area development, and civil engineering.

TenneT Landstations
Within one of Europe's largest energy transition projects, we are working on the spatial integration, engineering, and realization of new 2GW land stations that connect offshore wind energy to the Dutch high-voltage grid. With this, we provide an essential contribution to a sustainable energy supply for the Netherlands

Kenniskwartier Tilburg
We are participating in the development of one of the largest inner-city area developments in the Netherlands. In Tilburg West, approximately 7,500 homes, educational facilities, employment, mobility, and greenery are being integrally developed into a future-proof urban district.

Campus Development ASML
For ASML, we are working on the integrated development of one of Europe's most innovative high-tech campuses. We combine mobility, infrastructure, public space, and area development to enable the growth of ASML and the accessibility of the Brainport region.
Zeeheldenwijk Urk
Together with the municipality of Urk, we are working on the development of a new residential area with over 1,600 homes. In doing so, we realize future-proof solutions for housing, mobility, climate adaptation, and the design of public space.

Veursestraatweg Leidschendam
This project shows how we connect infrastructure and area development. We are designing a future-proof area access road that improves traffic safety, opens up new residential areas, and strengthens the landscape quality of the surroundings.

Working in the Urban Development department
We work hybrid and are in the office together an average of two days per week, primarily from 's-Hertogenbosch, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Assen, Zwolle, Maastricht, and/or Goes. On the remaining days, you work from home, at the client's location, or from one of our other Arcadis locations in the Netherlands.
