You will join a diverse and multidisciplinary team of 40 colleagues. You will work together with talented urban planners, architects, and technical designers toward our common goal: making the city better than it was.
Rijnboutt chooses diversity, with a collective of designers. For urban design and architecture. For transformation and densification. For heritage as potential. For layering and nuance. For interdisciplinary work. For building within the existing city. With attention to residents, users, and society.
Rijnboutt works from the conviction that the most important spatial challenges of our time lie in the further development of what is already there. For us, the existing city is the primary field of work. Therefore, we focus on transformation, densification, reuse, and repurposing. What already exists—and heritage in particular—is not seen by us as a limitation, but as a source of identity and as a starting point for new spatial and programmatic quality. In short: as a foundation upon which to build further.
Our approach is based on preservation through development. We investigate which values are present in a location—cultural-historical, socio-societal, economic, and ecological—and translate these into design choices that strengthen the location and create space for new use. In this way, the character of a building, ensemble, or area remains legible, while it is made suitable for current and future requirements.
