As a Mid-level Infrastructure Site Manager, you will have a very diverse range of tasks, which makes the work different every day. What does remain the same is that our teams are self-managing and that we help each other. Together out, together home. As a Mid-level Site Manager, you play an important role in this, together with the Senior Site Manager. You are involved daily in challenging infrastructural projects and make a direct contribution to the quality, safety, and sustainability of the work.
Your job
With your knowledge of road construction, infrastructure, and project execution, you ensure that everything runs smoothly on our projects as a Mid-level Site Manager. You will receive a lot of freedom and responsibility, allowing you to perform optimally and giving you plenty of room to further develop yourself within civil engineering.
You ensure efficient planning, monitor the progress of the work, and maintain control over the financial results of your projects. You will report on this to your supervisor. In your role, you are responsible for projects with a scope of approximately €2 to €10 million. Depending on the size of the project, you will manage one or more projects simultaneously.
Additionally, you provide daily leadership to foremen, skilled tradespeople, and subcontractors, and work closely with project managers and site planners. At the project locations, you monitor the safety, quality, and progress of the work. Working safely is always the top priority here. At the same time, you actively contribute to maintaining and expanding our network of clients, partners, and potential customers.
As a Mid-level Site Manager, you work largely independently and are able to make decisions regarding the deployment of personnel, equipment, and subcontractors. You have a coaching role within the team and actively contribute to the development of employees. Together with the project manager and site planner, you ensure that projects are successfully realized within planning, budget, and quality frameworks. When necessary, you inform the operations manager about the progress, opportunities, and risks within your projects.
Your workplace is, of course, primarily outdoors on our projects, but you are always welcome at our office in Zwijndrecht. On Thursday afternoons, we close the week together during the weekly drinks. A wonderful moment to speak with colleagues, exchange experiences, and celebrate successes together.
As one of the largest road builders in the Netherlands, we believe that regional involvement leads to better projects and satisfied clients. Our working area is primarily located in Zuid-Holland. Most projects have a scope between €500,000 and €5 million, but larger infrastructural works also form part of our portfolio.
The projects are very diverse. From the reconstruction of residential areas and major road maintenance to complex infrastructural projects in the Rotterdam port area. Well-known projects we have worked on include the CER track at the Maasvlakte, the Roseknoop in Rotterdam, the IJsselmondseknoop, the expansion of the RWG Terminal, the Lange Gracht in Leiden, the Veenpoldersweg in Stompwijk, and asphalt maintenance for Waterschap Hollandse Delta and the Port of Rotterdam.
Because of this, as a Road Construction Site Manager, you get the chance to work on projects that make Zuid-Holland safer, more accessible, and more future-proof. No project is the same, and it is precisely that variety that makes your work challenging and interesting.

About KWS
KWS is part of VolkerWessels and is the specialist in the field of infrastructure. From roads and public spaces to everything located above, below, and on the water.
With our branches, subsidiaries, and participations, we possess a wide range of disciplines, always close to our customers. From advice to asphalt production and from earthmoving, sewerage, and hydraulic engineering to small-scale works for municipalities and individuals. As a market leader in road construction and asphalt production, we also realize large-scale, multidisciplinary projects with which we establish complete infrastructure. Every day, over 2,000 driven colleagues commit themselves to the accessibility and livability of the Netherlands.
About KWS Rotterdam-Zwijndrecht
Big in the region, connected to each other. KWS Infra Rotterdam-Zwijndrecht counts over 200 colleagues. A close-knit team in which people know each other, strengthen each other, and want to move forward together. Our working area is the province of Zuid-Holland: the region where many of our colleagues live, where we know our customers well, and where we are visible every day.
That regional connection is an important strength. We know what is happening, move along with a changing environment, and constantly look for ways to do our work smarter, more sustainably, and better. With a turnover of approximately 160 million euros per year, clear ambitions in the field of sustainability, and a wide range of projects, we are a leading infra partner in the region.
From the city to the port and from large infrastructural developments to works closer to home. In doing so, we are proud of the projects we realize together. For example, we work on the Leidse Ring Noord, provide all the maintenance in the Hoeksche Waard and IJsselmonde, and make the city center of Rotterdam a little more beautiful with Stadse Werken.
But ultimately, it is not just about the projects. It is the people who make them possible together. By sharing knowledge, helping each other, and taking a step forward every day, we build not only the infrastructure of Zuid-Holland, but also a strong branch in which we make a difference together.
