The role

Business Controller - Diagnose Team

📍 Vion production locations | Traveling within the Netherlands

Will you make it visible where we can work smarter tomorrow?

At Vion, we are building a future-proof food chain. We do this with craftsmanship, technology, and above all, with people who dare to improve.

That is why we are starting a new Diagnose Team: a specialized team that helps our production locations to work smarter, more efficiently, and more profitably.

Not from a distance.
But on the shop floor.

As a Business Controller in the Diagnose Team, you analyze where performance can improve - and translate data into concrete actions that make a real difference.

You work at various production locations, speak with operators, managers, and controllers, and discover where processes can be smarter.

What you discover leads to real change.

Making an impact together with confidence. That is working at Vion.

Your impact

You bring figures, operations, and people together.

Together with the Diagnose Team, you perform fact-based diagnoses at our production locations. No theoretical reports, but analyses that lead to structural improvements.

You investigate questions such as:

  • Where do costs truly arise?

  • Where is margin disappearing in the process?

  • Where is there structural waste?

  • Where do planning or production flows get stuck?

You combine:

Data analysis
P&L, ERP data, cost structure, KPI dashboards

Observations on the shop floor
You observe how processes actually unfold

Conversations with teams
Operators, planners, controllers, and management

Based on that, you build strong business cases for improvements.

Improvements that do not just exist on paper, but are actually realized.

What makes this role unique

This is no standard controlling role.

You work Vion-wide, across locations and functions.

  • You visit 11 production locations annually

  • Per location, you work on-site two times for two weeks

  • You work directly with operations, finance, and supply chain

  • You don't just analyze, you also understand the operation

You feel just as comfortable:

  • on the production floor

  • as presenting insights to senior leadership.

What you will concretely do

  • Analyzing P&L data, ERP data, and cost structures

  • Identifying cost drivers in the entire value chain

  • Signaling inefficiencies and waste

  • Building data-driven business cases

  • Being a sparring partner for

    • Site Controllers

    • Supply Chain Managers

    • Production Managers

  • Supporting the implementation of improvements

  • Monitoring KPIs and validating assumptions

  • Engaging stakeholders in change through both data and dialogue

You are someone who...

  • Uses data as a starting point for in-depth analysis

  • Talks just as easily with operators as with management

  • Asks critical questions until the root cause is clear

  • Remains objective when interests clash

  • Prefers working on-site instead of behind a desk

  • Gets energy from complex operational issues

  • Believes that collaboration is the key to improvement

What you bring

  • Master's degree (e.g., Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Food Technology)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an operational environment

  • Experience with cost control or controlling

  • Experience with ERP data analysis

  • Strong financial and business administration foundation
