Legal AI is only as good as the knowledge behind it. At Lefebvre Sdu, we have been building that knowledge for 200 years. Day in, day out. Law by law. Word by word. As the Dutch heart of Lefebvre Group, the European leader in legal and tax knowledge, we are developing our own platform: GenIA-L, where legal and tax professionals don't just get an answer, but an answer they dare to put their name to. More than 75,000 professionals work with it daily, accounting for over 100 million euros in ARR in Europe. We are looking for a Business Controller who turns figures into direction.
You are the financial sparring partner for our business and team leads. Not from the sidelines, but in the middle of the organization, close to the commercial side: sales, marketing, and customer support. They want to know where the growth lies and where it is leaking, and you lay that on the table. You understand what is happening, translate it into analyses they can actually use, and dare to ask follow-up questions if an explanation is not quite right. You report to the CFO and work closely with the rest of the Finance & Control team.
You prepare the monthly management reports, forecasts, and the annual budget, and signal deviations before they become a problem or as soon as they present an opportunity.
In the final weeks of the month, you perform the closing together with finance: they provide the dataset, you compare it against the budget and determine if it is accurate and complete. What you report is correct.
You act as an advisor to budget holders and management in our commercial organization, and create analyses, both requested and unsolicited, that help steer strategically important initiatives.
You contribute to business cases for new initiatives and investments, and critically assess them for feasibility.
You make our planning and control smarter. The budget process currently runs entirely in Excel, and that can be improved: stronger models, more intelligence, with Power BI and LucaNet as the engine behind the reporting and forecasting.
And the business underneath is anything but uniform. A training division, a publishing portfolio, a serious content department, each with its own revenue model and own streams. Enough to sink your teeth into, and because much is still under development, you help determine how we steer from now on.
You are analytically strong, but above all curious about the story behind the numbers. You feel just as comfortable in a spreadsheet as at a table with a director, and you dare to ask follow-up questions if an explanation is not quite right.
THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR
At most companies, the controller looks backward. Here, you build forward. You join a control team of 5 and work directly with the CFO, without layers in between. Do you see a process that can be smarter? Then you make it smarter. Our budget process currently runs entirely in Excel, and that calls for better models, more automation, and more intelligence. You build that, with Power BI and LucaNet as tools and AI as an accelerator. The more you automate, the more time you have left for the work that matters: making the business sharper. The goal is clear: an organization that runs on data. And you help determine how we get there.
A place where, from day one, you have influence on the people, the culture, and the growth of one of the fastest-growing teams at Lefebvre Sdu.
The opportunity to work with a new leadership team that deliberately traded their jobs in big tech for the chance to build something here that did not yet exist.
A good base salary and a workweek of 36 hours per week.
A fixed year-end bonus of 4% and profit sharing up to 6%.
23 vacation days and a personal choice budget of 12%, of which 8% is holiday allowance and 4% is freely deployable.
A good pension scheme via PGB, including supplementary partner insurance.
A travel allowance of €0.25 per kilometer or a public transport allowance, and we offer an attractive bicycle scheme. For employees with a commuting distance of less than 10 km or more than 60 km, we have an adjusted scheme.
3 days per week in the office in The Hague, within walking distance of Voorburg station. The rest of the week, wherever you work best.
Room to grow. In your profession, in your role, in the organization.
