The role

As a Commercial Buyer Livestock - Pig, you are in the heart of pig farming and in the heart of our food chain. You build sustainable relationships with pig farmers in the Southern Netherlands, make clear commercial agreements, and help entrepreneurs move forward with market knowledge, advice, and a good conversation on the farm.

Your work has a direct effect. On the quality and continuity of our supply, on the position of our suppliers, and on chains in which animal welfare, transparency, and healthy business operations are becoming increasingly important. You will receive a lot of freedom to build your own network and turn commercial opportunities into long-term cooperation.

You feel at home in pig farming and know that trust is not created at a desk, but by keeping agreements, knowing the market, and being there when it is needed. You combine commercial insight with a sincere interest in the entrepreneur behind the business.

At Vion, you receive trust and space to develop your own market. You work independently in your region, but you are not alone: you are part of an organization with extensive knowledge of the chain and colleagues who easily know how to find each other. This allows you to combine commercial results with visible impact on the food chain.

What you'll do

You are responsible for the procurement of piglets, sows, and finishing pigs in your region. You know the market, know what is happening with entrepreneurs, and connect their interests with the possibilities within Vion. You are on the road a lot, visible on the farm, and work closely with colleagues within Farming and our production locations.

  • You further expand your supplier network in the Southern Netherlands and maintain existing relationships in a personal and professional manner.

  • You make commercial agreements regarding the delivery of piglets, sows, and finishing pigs, while monitoring quality, continuity, and mutual interest.

  • You are a regular sparring partner for pig farmers and advise on market developments, chain issues, and long-term opportunities.

  • You follow developments in pig farming, translate market information into concrete actions, and use data to make better commercial choices.

  • You connect suppliers with Vion and with chain initiatives, including the Good Farming programs.

  • You identify opportunities for new collaborations and take the initiative to advance them.

  • You work together with colleagues from Farming, commerce, and operations to ensure demand and supply align well.

  • You contribute to a future-proof chain in which healthy animals, transparency, animal welfare, and sustainable relationships are central.
