Senior Cost Expert

• HBO (Higher Professional Education) level of working and thinking, preferably in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or Mechanical Engineering;

• At least 10 years of experience as a cost expert, estimator, or cost engineer within civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction;
• Extensive experience in independently preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender calculations for multidisciplinary projects;
• Sound knowledge of the GWW sector (Earthworks, Waterworks, and Civil Engineering), the infra market, construction costs, risk management, and various contract forms such as UAV, UAV-GC, and construction team agreements;
• Experience with calculation software such as IBIS Calculeren;
• Strong communication skills and the ability to switch between technology, execution, commerce, and clients;
• Experience with complex infrastructure projects such as bridges, tunnels, locks, stations, and rail projects is a strong plus.

As a Senior Cost Expert at Strukton, you play a key role in the most complex and integrated infrastructure projects in the Netherlands. You work on challenging projects such as the renovation of rail and road tunnels, movable bridges, locks, stations, and other large-scale civil works where civil engineering, rail, construction, and technical installations converge.

From the very first feasibility study, cost estimate, and tender phase through to realization, you ensure a reliable and competitive cost price. You analyze complex designs, assess technical risks, and translate technical choices into a market-compliant and substantiated offer.

You understand the question behind the question and develop smart, sustainable, and feasible solutions for clients. In doing so, you take into account contract conditions, functional requirements, execution possibilities, and opportunities for optimization. With your expertise, you prepare sharp cost estimates, budgets, and tenders that contribute to winning projects.

As a senior specialist, you are responsible for large tenders and construction teams with a value of approximately €5 million to €100 million. You lead multidisciplinary teams in preparing a complete cost price and act as an important sparring partner for project managers, design managers, clients, and construction partners. Additionally, you present and defend your cost price calculations with conviction during tenders, procurements, and client meetings.

You continuously follow the latest developments within infrastructure, cost management, sustainable construction methods, asset management, and cost price strategies. Thanks to your knowledge and network, you build strong relationships within and outside the organization and actively contribute to knowledge sharing and innovation.
