The role

Strukton Civiel Nederland realizes sustainable projects in civil infrastructure throughout the Netherlands. Our strength lies in technical expertise, national coverage, and a strong connection with the environment. We work for local, regional, and national clients within the energy, water, and infrastructure domains.

Additionally, you are part of the Environmental Management domain within Civiel Nederland: a close-knit team of seven environmental managers with different backgrounds. There is plenty of room for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and personal development. You also have contact with environmental managers from other Strukton divisions, giving you broad insight into diverse projects and disciplines.

Furthermore, you have:
• HBO/WO (Higher Professional/University) working and thinking level
• At least 3 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within infrastructure projects or the energy and/or water sector
• Knowledge of modern contract forms and procurement methodologies
• Insight into laws and regulations regarding infrastructure, spatial planning, and permits
• Excellent communication skills and mastery of the Dutch language

About the company & team

Strukton Civiel Nederland is looking for an Environmental Manager Energy & Water for various challenging projects within the energy and water sectors. Think of the expansion and renewal of the high-voltage grid for TenneT, but also projects for companies such as Vitens. These projects are essential for a future-proof Netherlands: from strengthening the electricity grid to ensuring a reliable drinking water supply.

In this role, you ensure that activities in the environment can be carried out smoothly, carefully, and with public support.

As an Environmental Manager, you are the first point of contact for local residents, farmers, businesses, municipalities, and other stakeholders. You build trust, ensure clear communication, and limit the impact of activities on the environment. With your empathy, persuasiveness, and solution-oriented mindset, you know how to connect interests — even when they do not directly align.

You:

• Conducts conversations at homes and on-site
• Makes agreements with stakeholders and monitors them
• Identifies bottlenecks in a timely manner and prevents escalations
• Maps out environmental risks and translates these into advice and measures
• Coordinates traffic measures and ensures safe and comprehensive accessibility
• Coordinates with competent authorities, including municipalities, provinces, water boards, and environmental services
• Arranges for conditioning studies to be carried out, such as soil research, flora and fauna research, archaeological research, or NGE research
• Arranges all necessary permits for the execution of activities
• Drafts a BLVC‑plan and ensures safeguarding during execution
• Maps out pipeline routes, coordinates with operators, and identifies risks regarding existing cable and pipeline infrastructure

In this way, you make a visible contribution to projects that are essential for the energy transition and for a robust water system.
