The role
As a personal support worker, you have your own caseload for which you are the primary point of contact. Together with the residents, you create support goals aimed at aging in a comfortable manner. The questions central to this are mainly focused on what makes residents happy and what they need to shape their lives with the limitations they have. You play an important role in the coordination of care surrounding residents and communicate extensively with residential support workers, external organizations, and the resident's social network. You regularly evaluate the goals and the support. Within this role, you are engaged in much conversation, but you also provide practical help where necessary. You build a relationship with the residents. The support of residents is the priority, but there is also plenty of room to shape the work together with the team. Each team member is the designated person in charge of a core task within the residential location, taking your preferences into account. In this work, your knowledge of the environment, networking, and carefully maintaining client files is also of great importance. The diversity of contacts and tasks makes the position a dynamic job with a lot of responsibility.
