The role

Do you want to contribute to food safety in the Netherlands at the beginning of your career? Come work as a Junior Microbiology Analyst in the SGS food laboratory in Oosterhout!

As a Junior Microbiology Analyst, you will perform microbiological analyses on food and water samples under supervision. The majority of the analyses relate to food safety, including testing water samples for the presence of Legionella.

You will work according to established procedures, quality, and safety regulations, and you will learn step-by-step how to independently assess and report analyses. Routine work that never becomes boring due to the variation and specialization.

What you'll do

Your duties include:

  • Preparing and setting up samples

  • Performing microbiological analyses according to classical methods

  • Evaluating plates and (learning to) identify microorganisms

  • Processing regular and urgent analyses according to schedule

How you'll work

Work is carried out in shifts. In a period of four weeks, you will work:

  • 1 Saturday

  • 5 evening shifts (3:30 PM – 11:00 PM)

  • 3 night shifts (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
    The remaining shifts are day shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM).

Functie-eisen

You are at the beginning of your career and want to further develop yourself within microbiology.

What we would like to see:

  • A completed MLO education in the field of microbiology

  • Internship experience or (first) work experience in a laboratory is a plus

  • Interest in microbiological analyses and quality-oriented working

  • You work accurately, are eager to learn, and function well in a team

Do you not have work experience yet but do have your MLO diploma in hand? No problem — we are happy to guide you and teach you all the tricks of the trade.

Are you currently following an MLO microbiology course? Even then, you are very welcome to work with us and gain practical experience alongside your studies.
